Download and install LOOT, one of the best tools around for sorting load order. It will also tell you if you have missing masters or some conflicts. You should also learn to use SSEEdit in order to clean your master files. Also Wrye Bash is another essential modding tool. In order to have a stable modded game you should have at least a basic knowledge of load order and the tools used achieve a stable load order. There are a number of tutorials out there that can help you with this, I suggest you google something like "Skyrim Modding help and tutorials"" you should get a number a number of hits for that. In my opinion Gopher has some very good and easy to understand tutorials on modding.

While achieving a stable modded game is not rocket science you are still going to have to put some work in to get there.

Nooby-Nooberson here as well- I have been playing vanilla since oldrim came out, but have not done a lot of heavy mod adding; Which I am about to dive into now.

My question is this: In just glancing around in forums I see a lot of do/don't clean your master files. I thought that was a must why all the conjecture about this?

Here is what I want to do, procedurally; Can anyone offer tips / pointers:

1) Clean fresh install of SSE.

2) Clean install NMM and LOOT

3) Clean the initial Master files for SSE using SSEEdit

4) Make backup of the masters as my "failsafe Return Here" point.

5) Play up until enter Helgen Keep and make a clean save as "Return Here" point.

6) start adding mods

Great question, if a mod needs priority follow the modders instructions, but otherwise load order is not so important in SE as SE can handle Mods better than Classic. I use Loot . Mods with scripts should never be deleted, in fact no Mod should be deleted mid game. I have a cleaning tutorial, and see gopher's he is the best
