Can't change eye colour and hair after initial character creation

Without reading the forum I wouldn't have been able to set up Oblivion+OOO+MMM+ManyMore without any CTDs whatsoever.

 

Since all went well for two weeks, I reinstalled to try FCOM.

 

The game itself is quite stable though there are two nuisances at the start which I don't seem to be able to solve by myself: after creating my initial character I can't change the eye colour or the hairdo in another one when I start a new game.

 

I can, however, change them when using the configuration menu of "XP Levelling".

 

This problem isn't caused by "XP Levelling" because it was present before I even installed the mod.

 

So, what to do?

 

Any help would be appreciated.

 

And an additional question regarding missing meshes:

 

I came across two items ("Red Hood of the Mind" and "Soldier Shield of the North") that show the typical we-are-not-where-we-are-supposed-to-be-exclamation marks of missing meshes.

 

Question: How do I find out what Mod added those items and/or how do I get their file names?

 

I simply want to know whether the meshes are actually missing or corrupt.

I'm surprised here since seemed that where combination of hair, races, eyes, better faces and such the culprit for the issue you points above. Anyway it happens only in the very begin of the char creation, you gain control of this when trying to leave the prison.

 

Since I can't see those mods in your list I think some of those features are inside the few ones I don't known.

 

To the second question I suggest you using a mod named Formid finder that does what its name suggest. This mod don't require but does good use of the "pluggy" plugin for OBSE I recommend too. It will return informations about any item is under the cursor when casted the spell.

 

Among the informations traced by formid finder is the mod where the object came from.

stephanie, that works -- though I am still baffled why the problem occurs in the first place.

 

I guess, curiosity will finally drive me to reinstall again and create a character each and every time after I've added another mod.

 

nosisab, FormID Finder is exactly what I was looking for, very helpful.

Seems to me the only mod which could interfere with the facegen it's 'Zombies for Body Meshes'. Of course I could be wrong.

I had the same issue with the Akaviri Kojima mod which adds few new races.. so I say give to my words a try! Disable temporarily it and see what happens..

Otherwise follow stephanie's trick. It's the same I used to resolve my issue.

dyfed_99, sounds like a good idea. As soon as I am back at my gaming PC I'll give it a try. And even if that one is not the culprit you have probably pointed me in the right direction. Thanks to you, too. And I'll let you know, of course.

Be careful using the console .. when you save your changes after using "showracemenu" the game rests all your stats back to their starting values. Someone posted a way around that .. I think you need to save the changes before you exit the last screen in the race menu.

 

Or -

 

use 'modpca' and 'modpcs' to set your stats back where they were.

dyfed_99, (un)fortunately, the zombies didn't swallow my eyes -- must be something else.

 

stephanie, thanks for the warning, now I do have an incentive to fill my gaps of knowledge regarding the console. Btw, as long as I change race, appearance and birthsign using "XP Levelling" any stats are set correctly. If you prefer leveling by gathering experience points this mod does an excellent job. Highly recommended.
