niphilim222 Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 (edited) Hello anyone suffering from fps lag in Skyrim special edition when you first enter Riften, i found a cure for that when i was tweaking the ini. I found the cure simply by increasing the uExterior Cell Buffer to 144 in the Skyrim ini. It was a 11fps jump from 49fps to a whopping 60. This also cures fps drop in other regions like Riverwood. Now this also cures the esp bug in Skyrim which you have more then 50 esps loaded the fps would dip to 50..This fix does not work anymore please be aware of such ini tweak. tommy61157 Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Do be careful when doing this though, especially if you have a lot of mods, a potato system, or both.

cubbyman1 Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 you say it doesn't work anymore, but i'm going to try it anyway, this lag is unbearable, most other areas in my game run smoothly but the entire rift is so laggy it makes me sick to my stomach.
cubbyman1 Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 i got it to work in my game. it's not perfect but it's much more tolerable than before. i was getting the 12 FPS and now i'm getting at least an average of 44 FPS. i do wonder if i went slightly higher with this ini setting if it could improve a little more, but for now i will just leave it here as it's pretty damn good FPS boost.
anjenthedog Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Odd. The rule I learned is to take the uGridsToLoad value (default 5), add one to it (5+1 = 6), then square the value (6 * 6 = 36) to calculate the value of uExterior Cell Buffer
