ShmweShmwe
Hey Folks, this is a concept I recently did and I figured I'd see if anyone would be interested in it. It's based on George Washington's pistol and has 3 mods, a rifled choke, a magazine to increase shot count from one to fave and a sight. I carefully scaled everything so all the animations from the bolt action pipe pistol would fit perfectly, even with differences like the barrel diameter and the general shape of the handle. The three modifications were designed so they wouldn't change the original weapon itself and are just added on as well. Hope people like what they see and I'd love to hear some feedback. Thanks for reading!
montky
this is a fun looking little musketoon/musket-flintlock blaster.it'd be great with the frangible round mod The alternate version is wasteland-sacrilege / tacticool, though I'd probably mount the optic on the barrel brackets(via gasclamp + picatinny tac-weld to the bracket and then tightened and spot-weld/tested on the barrel).maybe a suppressor or a pencilshiv from shivs of the wasteland. this'd be fun, especially with AnyModAnyWeapon and various parts packs. It'd be cool to have a dual U-shaped/C-shaped paired musket,a 'backfire' musket (one shoots backwards, the other forwards...),a splaw-foot/duck's foot musket (4+ barrels in a fan arrangement) etc.
ShmweShmwe
The main reason the scope is mounted there instead of on the barrel was to avoid any issues with clipping when you cycle the bolt and so if the sight was a reflex type sight rather than a long range scope (I chose that style of scope since it could pass as functioning as either) it wouldn't require any adjustment to camera zoom to fill the screen properly when you aim. Placed where it is its in almost exactly the same place as sight more on the pipe pistol. A lot of stuff in the design is done for a certain reason like that so it would fit in as well as possible using vanilla assets. I used Washington's pistol not just because it fit the theme, but because it's grip and barrell lined up perfectly with the bolt action pipe pistol. I did consider adding a bayonet mod. I liked the idea of an American Revolution bayonet, but decided the use a rifled muzzle because it seemed more practical and I didn't want to add more than 3 mods that made a visual change and I wanted them to all be more modern parts.p A shotgun mod for the receiver would be awesome though Edited October 10, 2017 by ShmweShmwe
maximizers
That looks absolutely amazing!Do you intend to create the weapon yourself or hand the concept off to someone else? =o
ShmweShmwe
I don't have the skill to create this myself, but I'd be happy for someone to use the concept! That's why I posted it here, to see if anyone would be interested in making it that actually knows what they're doing haha I've got a few other ideas for concepts but I need the time to draw them up. jkruse05
You know, I never really paid attention to the pipe bolt-action animation before. I just subconsciously assumed that it was a side loader like the regular ones, never realizing that it was perfect for single round loading or stripper clips. I've been wanting some actual muskets, might be able to use that animation set for some breach loaders eventually. I'll keep this concept in mind if I ever get to that point. ShmweShmwe
The bolt action pipe pistol animation is perfect for these style of conversions, even in terms of how much work would be done to the actual gun to convert it to the bolt action action and like you said, since there's no magazine they can be one shot or magazine fed. I originally even considered a long barrel and stock add on but the rifle animations still have you holding it in a pistol grip configuration and I could't find a way for it to fit and not look a little awkward, but it's definitely possible. jkruse05
Could probably use the pipe bolt-action for pistols and the double barrel shotgun for rifles. http://l7.alamy.com/zooms/d006c6810bc74c15b1090700362b2007/a-breech-loading-flintlock-musket-german-circa-1680-three-stage-barrel-cyrhrg.jpg
ShmweShmwe
I had considered a break action design for a rifle, the only issue is the fact you'd be more or less limited to one shot. The hunting rifle could also be used, but I still think the pipe bolt action has the best animation for making it look like a converted weapon. When I have some time I'll play around with some more designs to see what looks best. I've got a few other ideas I want to sketch out as well.
