phaota
Past the western mountains of Skyrim, there lies a huge landscape waiting to be developed, hidden beneath a layer of clouds on the map so you wouldn't know it is there. The terrain is already laid out with mountains, valleys, hills and a coastline with a large lake. The ground is solid for quite a ways out before it becomes phased, causing your character to drop into the hidden ocean below the graphics. At that point, you have to use the no-clip "tcl" console command to air walk to the coast. With this massive area of land available, Bethesada has made it easy to expand the world of Skyrim. This location is way bigger than the hidden mountain area south of Riften. From the mountain ridge starting area in the photos below, it will take you 13 minutes of full tilt air running, then walking to rebuild your Stamina, then running again to reach the coastline. Now this is a straight line coarse. If the landscape was solid all the way there, it would probably take 30 minutes or more due to the valleys, mountains and hills. You can also add in 3 to 5 minutes to reach the mountain ridge area I started at since you have to go up a valley past the border region wall. The first photo shows where the border wall is at. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7069/6971571999_9491778431_b.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7205/6825452320_9a3e0ac733_b.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7045/6825452340_cb185c494a_b.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7061/6825452360_0ea32a8bb7_b.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7050/6971572041_c886907649_b.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7178/6971572053_c949bb8585_b.jpgMy character is not actually standing on the hilltop in the photo. She is still in no-clip mode. I just moved her down to be right above the graphic layer.http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7063/6825452420_5312736725_b.jpg
phenderix
Ya a lot of new content can be added to these lands. I am currently building a city just a tad bit west by Glenmoril Coven so please no one build there XD I think it would be great if tons of city mods or some huge overhaul mod was built to use these lands. phaota
I think that is the definite goal planned by Bethesada, otherwise this huge landscape was a complete waste of time.

sajuukkhar9000
Actually according to Bethesda all this extra land was made for1. modders2. at a point earlier in the games dev you were supposed to be able to see super far off because you were standing on top of mountains. etang2
Yeah, i'm pretty sure that a mods being worked on as we speak to develop this hidden land mass, in fact, I have it. :D but it patchy, you fall through it every where. BTW the Skyrim area is surrounded by the landmasses from the other titles. ONly problem is that including these in a DLC or an Expansion would cass MASSIVE resource crush on medium to low tier computers because of the amount of generating land and NPCS. ShadowSky
Great now we'll never finsh this game. I can't wait to see what creation our modders come up with. How big is this game anyways? The land mass or digital landscape must be huge.
