Looking for a written tutorial to turn a large modlist into bsa files

As the title states.

I have wayyyyy too many mods running, but they're mostly smaller mods with one or two things going on each. I want to extract it all and make a merged mod file so that I can do more and make the game more stable. Any advice here? Good non video tutorials(I'm better at reading them)? Any reasons this is a terrible idea?

Its not a bad idea per default. But dont merge them all at once. Make a merge of 2, try, merge another (make backup of the old merge) and so on.

Clothiing mods for example will die sometimes when merged, because something changes. You can merge a lot, but not everything. But because there´s no official list, you have to run trial and error.

an excellent question -

it is tricky, because of how each mod is coded.

it depends, for folks to cram more than the initial hexadec 255 limit,

and now the ~4000 .esl etc... there are a few techniques.

I wonder why folks would want to or need to,

though I support folks trying to find ways in hardware or software around that hehe.

mod merging can bork the metadata,

or break pathing etc.

PoorlyAged has a great set of vids about merges and modding optimization,

though there's also this...

https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/5625497-mods-list-generator/page-1

you could use the above and some searching crawlers,

to check your hypothetical mod compatibility cross-comparatively ahead of time...

if we used a standard RSSfeed/taging keyword framework,

then we could make it easier to highlight that for narrowband batch search...

say you had AGI, or a deep neural net that's good at comparing all that,

that'd be a great use for that.

there are like nX! worth of mods, so its a vast set and a lot of folks wonder similarly,

can they merge x,y,z subsets, to attain a more optimized configuration?

some mods should not be merged at all,

though purely cosmetic things like decals could be compressed etc.

complex new lands mods, like TheUnderboston or the Memory Den Virtual Holodeck etc,

should ostensibly never be merged
