pinheadleedle
Hey, I can't find my TESV.exe file for my game. I can load up Skyrim without mods, but when I put a mod on it doesn't work because my SKSE doesn't work. It doesn't work because it can't find my TESV.exe file anywhere. I don't know a lot about computers, and if someone who knows about the subject could help me I'd be grateful.
iXenite
It should be in the Skyrim folder. It may just be called TESV if your OS happens to be hiding known extensions from you.
nightscrawl
Skyrim Special Edition (these forums) does not have TESV.exe. It uses SkyrimSE.exe and SkyrimSELauncher.exe. Be sure that you're using the correct version of SKSE, which is SKSE64 alpha, not the one for regular Skyrim.

I didn't even notice that this was for Special Edition. :P You are indeed correct, the OP likely is using the wrong version of SKSE.
Hythix1990
So I hate to necro any post, but I've been looking anywhere, everywhere else and can't find any newer topics; if you guys would at least point me in the right direction, that would be great. I run Skyrim SE out of Steam. I do have the above issue where there IS no "TESV" file. I would still like to install SKSE 64 in order to correctly mod my SE game. How do I go about doing this without the TESV file? I can follow all the guides and videos and endless discussions and instructions scattered everywhere well enough, but I'm currently at a loss with that one file. Having the correct alpha version of SKSE does me no good if I don't know what to do with it. Thank you.
Deleted3897072User
Ignore the videos. They relate to Oldrim. If your SSE has just updated on Steam, you will have to wait for SKSE64 to be updated anyway. Otherwise, go to http://skse.silverlock.org/ and download the 7z archive listed for your current SE build. Unpack the 7z file and find the skse64_readme.txt file. Open that and read the install instructions. You will need to drag 'n' drop some files out of the 7z into your Skyrim Special Edition game folder. andronicusmagnus
I needed the tesv.exe file to run 'Joshs Skyrim Behavior file patcher', hoping it would fix the 319 'missing' anim files that FNIS would not find. Anyway Josh made this mod years ago with MO and is outdated... Any recent file organizer mods or tools that brings order to Forex, FNIS, Nexusmods dilemma without backflips and somersaults in your file archive? Any recent file organizer mods or tools that brings order to Forex, FNIS, Nexusmods dilemma without backflips and somersaults in your file archive? Animations aren't stored in the .exe file, they are in the game's BSA archives. So tinkering with a "wrong" .exe file won't solve any problem. Use FNIS. It's the current and up to date solution for anmiations ins Skyrim SE. If you're missing animations, check your mod install. BTW, "missing" files can simply mean that a mod contains "empty" animation slots, that aren't assigned to specific animations. This is the case with a lot of poser mods and similar stuff. If it's something like that, just ignore the error message.
