Energy Shield - only visible when blocking ?!

Hello

 

You may know this shield from HALO ... any modders around that have an idea how to make the light barrier ONLY visible while blocking? When deactivated i just want the white handle visible.

 

I tried to modify the Spellbreaker effect but it's quite impossible for me to look through it...seems as if the effect is projected onto an inisible mesh inside the NIF but there are 'bout 400 different entries so it's quite hard to edit...next thing i will do is do compare similar mods like the Magicka Sabers or the ...buuut any ideas are much appreciated, i would prefer a simple solution of course Or if you know about a similiar already exisiting item that i could reverse engineer...doh i completely forgot 'bout the bound sword, may check it out as well :biggrin:

 

I saw that there is an entry in Spellbraker that only activates the effect while blocking so it would be fine to combine that with an mechanism that makes the mesh of the shield only visible when blocking in combination with something like a reversed version of the already existing desintegration effect to fade in the light barrier.

To make 2 nif files, one for the handle, one for the light barrier...and...damn :D

I'm WAAAY late for this answer, but if I was going to persue this idea I would use the Spell Breaker enchantment and just change the spell mesh and/or texture to appear as a Jackle enrgy shield. Heck, the spell already has written into it the ability to vanish after taking too much damage, just like the real Jackle enrgy shield. On that note the shield could even be made to be functional against magic as well a physical damage, which would make it unique as far as shields go.

Hey, Ghosu! I know this post is a billion years old, but I don't suppose you still have the mesh for that shield floating around somewhere, do you? I'm making a little Arbiter mod and I'd love to use it! I'm not so worried about the "activating" part right now, I'd just like to have the look right. It would be awesome if you still had it somewhere. Let me know, thanks!
