Something scary... I think.

So, I recently got bored (what a surprise), and so I looked up my user name on Google.

My first reaction was, "Whoa! I didn't know I had that many accounts!"

Then I was rather creeped out.

If someone can look up my user name on Google, then they can learn quite a lot about me.

If you don't believe me, you can look up your own user name.

Just found that rather strange and scary...

Cheers,

I think it's normal. Internet is a huge data "bank" and google search all and everything in all the data. So if you type your username you can find all you've done, all you've said... I think it's normal.

BTW I tried to type my name and I find 242 answers and 10 pages :D

I hope you will understand my english.

I don't care if someone finds all the stuff I've posted online... I've always been careful not to include personally identifiable information. The scariest thing I found is that I'm not the only one using this username. I thought it was unique (and it used to be), but that's not the case anymore. :( It saddens me to think that someone may associate me with online content I have nothing to do with.

The most interesting thing about my username is how many Chinese, Japanese, and Korean language listings there are. Meanwhile things I've actually done don't even register. Kinda funny really. Even the handle I used to use before returned more bogus entries than anything. Guess it shows my contribution to the web...

Well, this shouldn't be too big of a surprise. The internet isn't a private affair after all.

If Googling your screename creeps you out then you might be surprised what you find when you search your real name.

Not so much in my case. Although there are plenty of entries for my name, absolutely none of them actually link back to me. Probably because I've been good, and never used my real name anywhere. Not having a Blog or Myspace page probably helps with that. And no, I'm not going to tell you my name. Did the same thing a few years ago, and was actually supprised to find even more musicians and similar with the same name as me than was previously there. Ironically, I have no musical or artistic talent.

Not for me. I just get a bunch of stuff on a famous actor from the early 1900's...

Yeah, it would really only be scary if there were alot of things being said about you, without you knowing.
