flameshiva
Hello, I recent encountered a problem where from some areas I'm getting a kind of double vision of textures looking at certain locations/buildings which kind of smear as you look left and right. I have not had this problem before and it only seems to be from a few areas up high but I would like to get this fixed anyway. So does anyone have any ideas or solutions please ? I could not upload an image because even as a Jpeg the pic is too big. Thanks. Edit: I changed my INI's and its gone but I still would like to know what caused it and more so a solution. AGreatWeight
Hard to say exactly without a pic, but I'd guess it might be a vram issue; i.e. running low on vram. Edited November 17, 2017 by AGreatWeight
flameshiva
Here I cropped it a little. What causes this ?
JimmyRJump
I've had people having a similar issue which was caused by scrapping normally unscrappable stuff or deleting files through console commands that shouldn't be deleted. Those issues were primarily in Vault 88, mind, where the corridors all of a sudden turned into swirving time-tunnel mode... I myself had a more or less similar oddity, but mostly when it started to rain, strange enough. I can't remember what it was exactly that I did to make it go away (it's over a year ago), but it had something to do with ambient occlusion or some such setting. Or maybe you watched the move "Doctor Strange" one time too many? :D
flameshiva
LOl I was going to say my character was not intoxicated at the time. I tried changing the ambient occlusion but no luck there. I do have '' Scrap everything '' maybe that is a cause if people have been problems with such mods. For now I'm just using different INI's as I mentioned before but its still good to try and solve these problems directly and to prevent in the future. AGreatWeight
After looking at the pic, I still tend to think that it's either an issue with low system ram or vram, however it's possible that it's related to mods you're using that disable pre-combined meshes, although that tends to show itself as parts of the world space/cell you're in go blank or disappear into a white void, rather than the swirly lsd-looking afterburn effect shown in your pic. Still, good that you've manage to fix it, hopefully it won't occur again.
flameshiva
I'm using a 980 TI 6GB and I have 16 GB of RAM in case thats relevant. Also why would it be a memory issue if changing the INI's fixes it ? could they of been set to use low memory ? AFAIK My INI's are set to as much as they were before. Maybe it is some mod conflict or maybe mods like Scrap Everything do have negative effects. This was a first time for this effect anyway.
JimmyRJump
Nah, it's not Scrap Everything. Been using that one for a long while, along with Spring Cleaning and some 450 other mods. But, just to make sure (and because 6GB of V-RAM is right on the edge of not enough) you could try ENBoost. It's a neat mod that makes the game use system RAM as V-RAM and works like a charm. flameshiva
Well I'm not a techy  but 6 GB Vram is not enough ? I'm playing at 1080 and not using any High resolution textures and never had that problem in the many hours I played before. . I have heard of ENB Boost I'll give it a try.
JimmyRJump
Well I'm not a techy  but 6 GB Vram is not enough ? I'm playing at 1080 and not using any High resolution textures and never had that problem in the many hours I played before. . I have heard of ENB Boost I'll give it a try. :happy:Since the game was released, I'm playing in 1080x1920 as well, with mostly 2K and a few 4K textures. Every whistle and bell enabled except for shadows (medium) and GodRays (off). My GPU at the time was an MSI R7970 Lightning 3GB (non-GHz model) which kind of did the job, but once I started adding more and more mods I experienced crashes a go-go and at the same time I noticed that the game used loads and loads of Video RAM (I use MSI Afterburner and keep an eye on temps GPU fan use and RAM and V-RAM use on the display of my keyboard). Next thing was that I started getting crahses when entering/leaving some buildings along with the game going belly-up every time I but caught a whiff of downtown Boston and getting near the Freedom Trail. The reason was spikes of up to 12GB of RAM use (system RAM and V-RAM combined). I installed ENBoost and it went better for a while but just prior to the release of Nuka World I got in trouble again and again experienced quite a lot of crashes. So, I decided to get a new GPU in August 2016 and got me an MSI RX470 GamerX 8GB. The card isn't exactly more powerful than the R7970 Lightning, but the 8GB of RAM compared to the 3GB I had before did the trick and I never experienced CTDs anymore, besides the occasional one which is simply part of FO4... Last time I played I used around 4 to 5GB of System RAM (included the 2.7GB needed for the OS and stuff) and some 7.5GB of V-RAM... which is still an average of around 9 to 10GB combined...
