I am just curious as to what the favorite character race of those who play Morrowind and/or Oblivion.

I will probably be making a follow-up poll on the gender of your character.

Okay. I'll start. For Morrowind, I prefer a male Dark Elf (Dunmer- his name is Indoril).

For Oblivion, I prefer a Male Imperial (based off the character (Melecoth) of one of my novels).

I put Morrowind as an option as well, because I figured it was important.

Please excuse me for any mistakes I made, or for any confusion. It is late at night here right now.

So, what what is/are your favorite race/races? Why?

You should be in bed, as that is where this old fart is heading.

Yes I did vote, redguard....strength and honor, things important to me.

Nope, been taking it easy all weekend....stayed home and read. Annual check up tomorrow and want to ensure I get the AOK from the doctor. Too much stress at work so I needed some time to kick back and relax.

Huh. Strange. I saw someone that looked EXACTLY like you, minus the big beard. ;D

Anyways, getting back on topic...

Interesting results so far. Lots of diversity. Good...

Breton, for both. High magicka, and higher resistance to it. Shield helps out at low levels too. I tend to mix combat and magic, so this suits me well enough. And I don't have to deal with any unusual skin colors or funny hair styles (more of a Morrowind issue as many early equipment mods came in only one color of skin, or required special scripting to exchange things out for other skin colors (not a racial (as we define it) issue)).

As for least favorite... In Morrowind, beast races. Not being able to use boots kinda sucked. Also didn't have any particularly useful advantages (other than disease resistance, something negated by enchanted equipment with charges of cure disease). In Oblivion, Orcs. No reason, just havn't felt like using one yet, probably because I've been making female characters lately (if I'm going to spend the time staring at someone's backside every time I go to 3rd person to check how something looks, I might as well enjoy the sight), and tusks don't do a thing for me.

Hmm... I honestly don't think people give beast races enough credit... I've played as one before, and it worked out rather well. I like the way Argonians swim in Morrowind. It makes them seem more "Lizzard Like."

BTW, did you vote Vagrant0?

Edit: Oops! Sorry! I just realized a mistake I made in the Sub-Title. Instead of saying "For Oblivion AND Morrowind" it says "For Oblivion AND Oblivion"

Maybe I SHOULD get to sleep...

Well, aside from having special animations, they have been given the short end of the stick thus far within the TES universe. Most their racial powers can be replicated in full with just a little magic skill*, (or enchanted items in Morrowind). Adding to that, Argonian powers actually broke some parts of the game (water breathing within Vivec's trials, disease resistance with corpus and vampirism). Add to that their lower dispositions from NPCs, fewer useful skill bonuses, and decreased compatability with equipment, and it isn't suprising why. Only those with lizard/cat love would put up with those sorts of things for long. If those issues didn't exist, then yeah, there wouldn't be any reason not to like them.

*Eye of fear, although only replaced by higher magic skills, really wasn't ever useful since all it usually accomplished in either game was making whatever run away, and occasionally bringing help in the process, or ending up stuck one place or another. If it made them drop their weapons and cower in fear, that would be a different story, and probably exploitable.

I voted Breton, for being the most equilibrated... you can do nearly any type of average to good kind of character, but he excels in the magic ones, what is by far my favorites.

High and dark elves can best then in this, but the at high cost.

But I'll not be binded to one race since I like experimenting. Often I just play the worse race for the type I'm doing, just to add some juice and challenge trying to make then something less than pathetic :)

I have to agree with you on the equiptment issues. It's kind of weird in Oblivion when and arginian is wearing a closed helmet...

Keep in mind that the Minor Powers were meant to be useful for Low-Level Characters.
