I just added a 40 cal glock to my arsenal. My next handgun will be the new "Judge' by Taurus. It will shoot.45 bullets or 4-10 shotgun shells or a combo of either. With a rifled barrel it will make for a very tight pattern useing the shotgun ammo.

I have a few favorites. Fav. practical sniper is the FNH SRS chambering the .338 Laupa. Assault rifle would be a bushmaster AR with the piston driven recoil system. Handguns is the Glock 30 chambering the .45 ACP. Favorite heavy assault is the SCAR-H.

I haven't handled any rifles, but I have handled two of my dad's pistols. My favorite would have to be his Revolver, not sure what model it is.. But it's fun to spin the cylinder! :D

Bushmaster Varminter with a 6x-24x scope, Magpull precision stock and a bit of custom work done to it.

(Taken with a crappy camera. Adjusted in photoshop to compensate as much as possible. Can still see the dust on the camera from it being taken from my phone that was in my pocket :P)

I have no single "favorite" firearm, but rather one or two from each class of weapon that I'd like to have with me depending on the situation and the mission (as a medic, the Army sees fit for me to carry only an M-9 pistol).

Pistol - The reliable Colt M1911A2 (ye olde Gubmint Fawty-Five). Good stopping-power, reasonable weight, managable recoil, and at milspec grade, fairly forgiving of grit and mistreatment. Only good for close quarters.

Hold-out Pistol - Winchester .38 Derringer. Fits nicely in any pocket.

Battle Rifle - Here, it's a tie between the FN-FAL and the M-14. Both are a bit heavy, and have a bit of recoil, but that NATO 7.62x51 round is quite accurate at distances up to 350m (on iron sights) or up to 1000m (scoped). Lots of people have raved about the AK-47, and I agree that Mr. Kalashnikov designed a decent assault rifle, but the accuracy on a milspec AK is pretty sad (especially with a lot of the knock-off copies manufactured outside of Warsaw Pact countries), and the 7.62x39 round has a lot less stopping power than NATO 7.62.

It depends on what your shooting style is - if you're fighting in wide-open terrain, you want well-placed single shots at distance, and the AK's not designed for that. If you're fighting in forested areas with limited visibility, shooting at distances under 150m, the AK's more useful, but you might as well go with a submachinegun.

Submachinegun - The Heckler & Koch MP-5 is one of the best (and with hundreds of variations), useful in both MOUT (that's urban terrain, for the uninitiated) and forested terrain, but I'm also a fan of the UZI (very forgiving of grit, though not as accurate as I prefer, but what do you expect from a weapon that fires from the open-bolt position?)

Shotgun - Browning's Marine Stainless model. Simple, functional, and great for trenches, alleys, hallways, or just for duck-hunting.

Light Machinegun - West Germany's Rheinmetall MG3 all-purpose machinegun. Got to fire one once, while stationed in Germany in the 90's, thought it handled a lot better than the M-60, and liked the fact that it didn't use disintegrating-link belts. Only used as a squad-support heavy weapon.

Which one do I want to carry?

That all depends on the upcoming mission, and my role in it.
