skyquest32
Playing Custom races is unneeded, you can add there abilities passive/spell via console with no bugs! You can be a slandered race, install the race mod, check in console add the spells and passives and boom, there is no needed to play with a buggy, vampire incompatible race! You have all they have and there is even a way to copy the look. As far as I can tell no custom race is compatible with the game really, not a one...no matter what mods you get..no one has even made a simple patch that really works with Dawnguard and the cook, let alone BV. It dose not matter what you do or install its going to bug, because no one has ever made a race recognized like the vanilla races, that can work with DLC's. Its ether impossible or Takes a Q continuum level IQ to do it. The fixes are even buggy, the compatibility patches total BS, tried a million times, and now I have found the solution! Just add it all to a standard race and copy the look! The same thing! The NPC's don't know anyway! No one has ever been smart enough to add the recognition or edit in the comments needed! ymf331
i don't think custom races are as much for spells as they are for using custom resources without altering any npcs.

Many play them because they just think it would be cool to do so.
Evangela
I don't know about not being smart enough, and I wouldn't dare say lazy, but I think half done would be closer. But I never delved in custom race making, but I'd assume a LOT is involved to get it to play nice with Skyrim period. Lots of conditions would need to be changed to recognize the custom races, and this could include dialog. Sounds way too deep and a lot of work.
