Brandy1123
There is no doubt about the creativity and the incredibly wondeful game (franchise) Bethesda created. On the other hand, it's just as abvious they never intended to make this a PC friendly game. I think they did exactly what they intended. That being, put the bare minimum effort into making it "work" on a pc, then let modders fix it, thy always do. The key mapping, to me, is very unprofessional. It makes for frustraions and unpleasant game play. Keys are reversed, don't work as expected under certain game activites or conditions and, frankly, do not fit my ideal layout for playing. I know I used the word "MY" layout. Of all other games I play or have played, even JAVA app games, they almost alwaya allow kep/stick mapping. its pretty sad to be given this and they have not fixed it on their end. Fortunado3
But its the lack of hotkeys and continually having to go into the favorites menu just to do the little things 1) Open up Magic or Inventory screen2) Set a favourite3) Close screen4) Open Favourties5) Scroll to an item6) Hit a number to set that item's hotkeyYeah, I know, I'm talking about the controller. CarlCorey
It seems to me that the keyboard/mouse settings are pretty much identical to those in FO3 and FONV (I didn't play Oblivion). Doesn't seem awkward to me at all since I've built up all this muscle memory over time. Actually, I played FO3 on a laptop with a Trackpoint (the little nubby thing between the "g" and "h" keys) and I liked that better than using a mouse since it kept both my hands closer together over the keyboard with my right thumb in charge of both "mouse" buttons and the spacebar. I had to retrain myself a little bit with I lost the Trackpoint.
Bpbill
I use the mouse/keyboard pretty much all the time, but every now and then I pop out the controller so I can sit back and relax. Can't ever buy/sell anything with the controller though since I have skyui and don't know how to switch from vendor inventory to mine with the controller. It still bothers me that the second I plug in my controller the keyboard/mouse stop working all together.... why can't I use both... grrrr. In general the controls are somewhat.... cumbersome at times. Back switches between NPC /Chest/etc and PC inventories.
blacksmithkazuma
wow this exploded, reading over everything it really does seem the controls for Skyrim are fraked up. Uhh one had said actually "Skyrim was not intended for real PC use" I agree with that. 360 the controls are flawless - PC it just looks prettier. Well thank you all for your input, will have to check out the SKyUI mentioned. Could possibly give me the flexibility I am looking for, even if it is a small amount. Thanks again.
