Cutterone
Hi All, I'm a huge fan of Skyrim but relatively new to the use of mods, their setup, etc. However, I'm fairly good with comps so I figured I'd give modding my Skyrim SE a try. I've run into a problem and was hoping someone here might know of a solution. I want to use SkyUI and some other mods that require SKSE. Here is the issue I ran into. When trying to install SKSE64 v.2.00.04 and tried to run the loader I got an error message saying that I'm using a Newer version of Skyrim SE than is supported. When I tried installing SKSE v.1.07.03 I got the "can't find TESV.exe" error. I know this means that it's looking for the standard skyrim .exe and not the SE one so I've solved that issue. My question is: For someone using the most updated version of Skyrim SE, what SKSE should I be using (if it even exists) and what version of SkyUI? In case it helps, my comp stats are:i7 4790k quad coreMSI GeForce GTX 980Ti 6GB32mb 1866 DDR3 RAM.Samsung 850 500GB SSHD Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been asked before I couldn't find anyting. Niborino9409
Wasn't there an update like yesterday? SKSE might not have catched up. Bethesda's constant updates breaks it.
Cutterone
Thanks for the quick reply Niborino. My computer at home (with Skyrim SE on it) has been offline for a couple of days so if there was an update yesterday it wouldn't effect my comp yet as it has no way to update unless I use my Wifi hotspot. JimmyRJump
Only use script extender versions for the Special Edition. The versions for SSE all end with 64, as in SKSE64. Version 1.07.03 indeed looks for the Oldrim .exe because that's what this SKSE version was built for, not for SSE. Always make a back-up of at least the .exe file of the SSE version installed so you can roll back in case an unwanted update screwed-up your game. SKSE64 is still in full development (alpha state) and not all mods that need it will work because of the limited support SKSE64 gives right now. I myself avoid the use of SKSE64 and dependent mods until everything works as intended. There's loads of gamers who already use SKSE64 and dependent mods without a problem, but I'm tired of having to jump through hoops because of SSE updates being forced down our throats that break the co-operation between the game and SKSE64. Here's the archive page from Silverlock that has all Oldrim and SSE script extender versions available. Those at the top are for SSE. One of them should work for the version of SSE you have installed.
Cutterone
Thanks Jimmy, Yeah, after I posted I did more looking around and I'm seeing that that devs keep making SKSE work, but the updates to Skyrim SE keep breaking it. Thanks for the link, I'll see if one of the other (maybe 03) works. Cutter
