Oblivion to Skyrim--Illegal or not

Well, first of all...is it possible???

To transfer Oblivion meshes and textures (M&T) over to Skyrim's CK...I know that BLENDER will open and modify meshes, I"ve done it before. But I'm unfamilir with Skyrim's M&T's package.

Second, is it legal???

I know that Bethseda has all the rights to TES...and that no Morrowind Mod for Oblivion was allowed. But can I use Oblivion M&T for my Skyrim mod???

Third, finally to the point, my mods requires a unique variety of TREEs, but Skyrim has...well, no variety. So I either need to re-texture Oblivion trees (cause I started this mod during Oblivion's popularity, but was so limited by it's TECH) or I need a skilled artist to BLENDer me a few trees for my MOD. I already know hundreds of great artist from NEXUS, but WHO would be willing to help.

Thanks for those that give VALID and REASONABLE. comments.

Short answer: No, it's not.

Long answer: Yes, but only if you are not distributing it. You can only use that ported content yourself, as soon as you upload anything - it's illegal.

If it's for a mod that is to be uploaded - I'd look elsewhere for available resources. Some Oblivion mod authors might be willing to allow a conversion of their works if you asked them. Not saying it's a definite, but you won't know until you ask...

The games both look very different. The climate, weather, an Imod is going to skew the artwork so it looks beyond retarded. Then the amount of work required to adjust this as well as porting the content itself you could have just made something new or expanded upon Skyrim content, *ahem* an legally.

If only I knew how to make a comment invalid and unreasonable I could have fun with this.

Maybe ... 1 = Peanuts

Compiler Error: (1/1) You cannot assign a value to constant '1'

Compiler Error: (1/5) "Peanuts" is not a valid variable or property. No reasonable response at "="

Also I need you to bring me a shrubbery.

Ok that's out of the way.

Some of the models in Skryim for trees are pretty multi purpose, especially if you just scale them differently. What you need are some varied textures. I have a feeling if you spent a couple hours trying you'd be able to whip something alright up yourself, so long as you map it right. :D There are tons and tons of tutorials on that sort of thing. What types of trees are you looking for in particular? Morrowind and oblivion trees weren't exactly marvels of modeling or texturing artistry... I know little to nothing of texturing, especially the complicated goofball textures games use thesedays. I only know that any time I've decided to alter a texture in the past, it hasn't taken any prohibitive amount of time to accomplish.

How about instead of putting the Oblivion content into your mod, you make a script/tool that extracts the required data from Oblivion and distribute that with your mod?

Then only players who own both Oblivion and Skyrim can use your mod, which I believe would make it legal. I think. Admins...?

Yea that would be possible and definityly legal. I would be VERY limited of who can play my mod.

I've already start a temp file on Blender trees, but my biggest problem on this is that i'm COLORBLIND! LOL! I can't texture the trees and will still need help with that.

Both SinderionsBones and GrindedStone have good points. I really like the variety of trees in Oblivion, which made my mod worth trying. Skryim's Engine makes it so much better, but lacks the variety of the Environment I required.

Thanks all for your quick...and VALID responses...LOL!

HAving something move oblivion meshes and textures from one folder to another won't work, TES4 assets must be converted to the TES5 formats, which are definitely different. I would suggest giving up on trying to find ways to use Oblivion assets in Skyrim for a public mod.

Yea I"ve already begun making templates with blender...but it has been a while and 2.62 is so much different then when I first used it back when OB was popular...so if any one knows some available modelers that can help me with the detailed work, I can concentrate on the mod itself...
