How Often is Fallout 4 Updating, and How Quickly Does F4SE Keep Up?

I've heard bits and pieces here and there about Fallout 4 rolling out update after update to help it stay stable for the creation club. Not sure if this is true, was hoping for some clarification?

 

Also, downloaded both the latest version of Fallout 4 AND F4SE yesterday, and after the install, F4SE told me it wasn't compatible with the newest edition of Fallout. Just how often are these updates coming? How fast does it usually take F4SE to update accordingly? Cause if this is going to go on for a while, I'm thinking of holding off on downloading Fallout. I'm not very proficient with the modding thing, and I'm not sure how to update the game or F4SE safely, or if doing so will harm the mods I've installed.

If you don't like waiting for F4SE to update, then don't download the Fallout 4 patch until you know F4SE has been updated accordingly. Keep your fallout.exe file backed up elsewhere on your hard drive in case steam automatically updates.

Thanks for the advice! In this case though, a few of those updates have been pretty helpful! The new skinning tool that will make weapon cosmetics easier ought to lead to some fun times. I think I'll hold out a week or two, see if things settle down once the whole creation club thing gets on it's feet proper.

Can anyone tell me how to stop the game from automatically downloading the updates. I'm getting annoyed with Bethesda constant crap with the creation club. From what I've read I have the most up to date update and the f4se to go with it but its telling me I have the wrong one. what is going on

Yes, go into Steam Library, right click on Fallout 4, choose Properties and click on the Update tab ... select " game update only when launching the game" .... and make sure that you launch the game via F4SE launcher so your game will not update unless you go again inside properties and manually choose that you want to update.

If you launch the game using the Fallout 4 original icon on your desktop, then your game will update.

 

Two nights ago I did it and lesson learned .. I won't update it anymore cus I think that Bethesda is coming up with so frequent updates related to the freaking Club which I am not at all interested on ... so f**em .. .those updates do not improve at all my game; on the contrary, two nights ago I had to reinstall F4SE launcher because it did not work after the update and one of my mods did not work so I had to go thru a lot of s#*! to make it finally work .. won't happen anymore ..

Recent updates are all bethesda.net mod related. If you dont use it, you wont need the updates. Just ignore them, and prevent steam from updating. You can always update, when F4SE is updated, and all your mods are patched.

At the time, bethesda is satisfied with the system, there will be no more patches, and we will all come to rest.

I had steam running last night while trying to get my f4se to work. I ended up just saying F it and launched the game via steam and was shocked when all my mods were running and nothing was off. It did crash every now and then but I was down town when it did and I have just installed a new graphics card so still working out the kinks

so i finally figured out why F4se wasn't working for me and I feel like an idiot. I had forgotten to move some files from one place to another, FACEPALM. But now I know about the update thing. Don't use creation club so I dont want the new updates

Don't be TOO quick to avoid updating. Some of those updates for the creation club have actually added tools to help modders as well! I'm not sure if the new weapon skinning tool modders are hoping on will work without updates though. Maybe our own game doesn't need to be updated for the mods using these updates to function? Regardless, I'm gonna give things another week. I have a feeling that updates to help mods from the club work properly will go both ways, and those same tools will add some more functionality for the free mods here as well.
