jkruse05
Some of my favorites that are both lore friendly and reasonably balanced:Makeshift Anti-Materiel RifleCrude BlowbackGrenade Expansion Pack 2Plasma CyclerHunting Shotgun10mm SMGM1 GarandR91 - Fallout 3 Assault Rifle There are many other good ones, those are just the ones I like to keep around. Personally, I also really like Junkmaster, which is a low-level overhaul that adds many new weapons carefully integrated into the main game (mostly ones that appeared in previous games), but also makes several other changes that I feel are in-line with the base game. ThatKidWhoDoesStuff
Hm! Interesting. I didn't expect so many nice responses so quickly, I didn't even bother checking until today! What are your favorite lore-friendly well balanced weapon mods? Currently only using the Scar-LK assault rifle (a quite old version) and the McMillan CS5 sniper rifle. When I get further into the game, I'll likely start using the XM73 Gauss by Tumbajama and Quad Rioter's Accelerator and Projectile. Love all of those guns. So I've never actually used the CK or fo4 edit or really anything... which is, you know, kind of silly of me, i know
sopmac45
Well, I think that will depend on your gameplay difficulty I guess ... I am playing on Very Hard with mods : Raider Overhaul, Super Mutants Redux, Robots and synths overhauled and I have made my own mods to overhaul Ghouls, Mongrels and Mirelurks and when I use vanilla weapons, I do not kill that easy, never on a single shot and even with the PRTS-41 mod ( heavy sniper weapon and very powerful ) enhanced via Weaponbench to its max, I am unable to kill in one shot ..... ... for your information ( to the OP ), I have enhanced some weapons via FO4Edit ( you should learn it and it is very easy - watch the video located in the mod WOTC, follow the steps and you will be able to do your own mods ) because I am unable to kill quickly even with the superb IF-88 ( automatic shotgun and the best weapon IMHO in the game ), ACR-7, Vektor and the superb missile launcher ( it is a mod but I do not remember the name now ) .... with this last missile launcher, I have to shoot at least 3-4 missiles to Automatrons big robots to kill them so I do not really know what are you talking about .... ... go and learn how to use FO4edit and enhance your weapons ( create your own mod ) and you will see how powerful your weapon can be. I had and still, with all the enhancements that I have made, I need to shoot several times to kill raiders, so they are very though. My game has been completely enhanced so I made it more difficult to have more fun .... NOW ... if you enhance your weapons and lower the difficulty of your game, you will kill in one shot ... if that is what you want, you can do it; personally, I do not want that, I want challenge and I have it so I am having a lot of fun ... fftfan
I find some of them a bit OP mostly Modern Firearms, I had a 600 damage semi auto Knight's Armament rifle and that wasn't even with maxed damage perks like it can take out a Mirelurk Queen in 2/3 shots on Very Hard plus seemingly infinite range. Ironically the ones that include options like McMillan CS5 I'd leave as OP intentionally, since that one to me is like an epic Metal Gear Solid sniper rifle like an anti-material or other strong sniper, if we had MMO-style Raiding in Fallout that would be what a top tier Epic Sniper looks like, that or PTRS1. A lot of the newer ones are very balanced though. It's mostly funny when a pistol is very OP unless it's a Desert Eagle, giant magnum like Wesker's S&W500 from Resident Evil, Hellsing Ultimate, Ocelot's pistol or something similar. My Cheat Room 10mm is still the best, can either auto-kill in 1 shot, revive people or open inventory for trading.
Nudedragon
Surprisingly, I've heard the opposite complaint, too. I recently watched a video showcasing weapon mods that complained that most weapon mods aren't viable to use in endgame, and end up only being good at lower levels. I think mod authors design their weapons to be balanced in their own games, for the most part, which means they're not necessarily balanced in games of people who have easier or harder settings. Plus, of course, people who just make their gun ridiculously overpowered for the fun of it. Some ppl enjoy tossing enemies around like ragdolls :P
