meganix
Well because I installed and uninstalled nearly 100's mods, both with NMM and without, the Game World started to tear apart. Solitude was gone, it was just a big hole of nothing, and the NPC's have fallen down and died at the bottom of the game world in various places. When I started as a new character, the wagon I was travelling with tumbled down the road to Helgen. The road had just suddenly been unlikely steep! I didn't through installed any mods who changed the game world that much? But the question is how can I install mods without the risk of breaking the game? TWarrior
i also have some of those problems. seems it is the problem of skyrim itself. oblivion didnt had those problems (i ran 100+ mods , no problems at all). best thing is to use wrye bash and boss. save often, sometimes bugs bake into your savegame! Staind716
Read the readme's for any possible mod conflicts. Only install a couple of mods at a time then test your game. If you don't have any issues then go on to the next ones that you want. Be careful using mods that change the same type of things in the game as these may conflict with each other. Texture mods are not normally an problem since they overwrite each other. Mods that change anything in the gameplay itself are usually the culprit. And if in doubt, ask. There are a lot of people who don't mind taking the time to try to help you. And as far as the comment above about it being Skyrim's fault.....no. It is due to the mods themselves not the game. It's also a good idea to make a backup of your saves before trying new mods so you can roll back to them if your new saves get corrupted. I am using over 180 mods now and no problems. If you need any more help just let me know and I will be happy to help any way I can. Good luck.
Korodic
I only download mods worth having. Some people on here set themselves up for disaster by downloading crap they don't even want to keep for the long run. :P You gotta really be aware of what you've got. But the question is how can I install mods without the risk of breaking the game?As everyone else has pointed out, make sure that you're reading the instructions that come with each mod. You always need to be vigilant for how your esp files are interacting with both the master file and with one another. Anytime you have data in a mod that directly conflicts with the master file, you're game is almost guaranteed to crash. When you have conflicts between mods, or indirect conflicts with the master file, you're going to get problems like the one you described. The more mods you install, the higher the likelihood that conflicts will exist. I make sure to both limit the total number of mods I'm running at a given time, as well as ensuring that the content I'm adding is well spread out over different cells/worldspaces. Don't expect your game to run flawlessly if you have 4 house mods all located in Solitude. Edited March 20, 2012 by trees415
yota71
Just select the mod you want, don't download the mod just for try, use just one mod tha modify the World (like WIS or Sim) download just one plugin the give you better graphic (use just one type of ENB wisely chosed) if you use an ENB donìt use Dynavision (just an example) the only almost stable mods is the one that add object to the game (weapons, armor, book mod logically without exagerrating) use just one magic mod (Mida's or Phendrix they say that they are compatible, but some hidden incompatibility can exist)Add new landmasses wisely, usually they make your game Higly unstable or they make you game crash directly, add just one Body type (CBB or UNP) don't uninstall CBB for add Unp or uninstall UNP for adding CBB chose ever wisely your mods and you will have a lot less problem ;)

nik0li
Some of the things you describe sound like they could be caused by the latest (beta) patch.. the 1.5 patch. Do you have that installed?
EnaiSiaion
It appears Steam automatically installed a patch yesterday which broke the game: my character was transparent and spawned in the void, the HUD was gone etc. Restarting Steam resulted in another automatic download which fixed it.
