A pleasant surprise

Hadn't noticed that the 1.5 update was in affect until SKSE noted that my version was not compatible with Skyrim. After I updated SKSE, I noticed that critical hits with the bow went into a death animation, so far it's cool.

I figured that everyone already knew about the new features of the 1.5 patch? Like shadows on grass now being a feature for PC only, and of course the new melee, ranged, and magic finisher animations that have been added. As soon as I found out about all that, I went straight for the beta. Haven't updated to the live release though.

Are the shadows on grass on by default? If so where do I go to turn it off so my poor old computer doesn't lose more precious FPS? I couldn't find it in INI or game options. Edited by Erazai

Yeah, lots of people had the patch sprung on them.

Weird. The first thing I look at when I come to the nexus is the news section, so yeah. But that's me.

Anyway, in regards to the person that wants to turn of the shadows on grass, there is no setting for it in the advanced tab of the "Options" launcher, so you will more than likely have to do it via the .ini. Just go to Skyrimprefs, and type in something like "shadowsongrass", or just "shadows", and see if anything is pulled up. However, I don't think that anyone will be having FPS issues for the shadows on the grass. Although, I have noticed that most people ARE getting issues from the new LOD textures that have been added so that transitions into snowy regions are more smooth; that I think may cause you some problems, but I wouldn't worry about the shadows on grass to much. Give it a whirl and see how your rig handles it.
