Steam has screwed me yet again

the 1.5 patch seems nice enough... on paper. however those b****rds at steam shoved the patch down my throat without asking me. i even had the auto update turned off + offline mode enabled (which isn’t even really offline at all), i check that several times a day, just to be extra sure. why would i not want the 1.5 patch you might ask? i guess you weren't hear for the earlier ones or were lucky enough to not get the game breaking issues most of us got stuck with.

now even if that patch is all smelling of roses and whatnot, no added issues (which i somehow doubt), i'm using SKSE, & script dragon ... twas hoping to update when or if i found there were no major reported bugs added by the new patch, and script dragon & skse were updated to match. then maybe wait a bit longer for the mods that depend on SKSE & script dragon to update as well. and one final note, it won't let me revert to patch 1.4.27.0 which seemed to work fairly well for me.

Sorry for that rant warning, I’m just a little pissed at this point. at everything. bethesda, valve/steam, the world etc.

I had to remove Script Dragon because of the update. I don't mind too much because it was only used for 1 mod, but it was one of my most used ones to be honest. SKSE works just fine though.

I wish Script Dragon was updated as quickly as SKSE.

Funny, I've been playing offline all day for the very reasons that you enumerated and I'm still at version 1.4.21.0. I hope that the new upgrade doesn't cause you any other problems.

Its too bad we have to go above and beyond just enjoying our game, with the game community that sets the standard, here at Nexus. Instead of the synergy of all players and the incredibly talented modders working together, they force a rift in the gaming community by inundating us with unwanted Propaganda, advertising and ultimately, access to the games you paid for. STEAMypile is not gamer friendly. It stupifies gaming at its core. They tell you what to eat, how much to eat and when to eat. To bad all they feed you is what spews out of the STEAMypile machine.

STEAMypile'rs will say its not them, its the industry or developers. If thats the case, then don't make me go through STEAMypile and be subjected to every stinking piece of software THEY think I need. Let me decide. Let me run MY game how I want. Let this wonderful community collaberate on what is good, bad, and worthwhile letting me make the choice. STEAMypile services get shut down the second my game loads. I gain up to 15FPS when I turn that trash off.

it's funny, and sad... at the same time. after that 1.2 patch (just after) i unclicked auto-update, and figured i'd be fine... well that's just wrong. luckly, 1.3 fixed my main gripe. dragons flying backwards at mach 5.0 & not dying even if you manage to hit em. i was updated with 1.4, no... i was ambushed with the 1.4 patch. on top of mass lag SKSE and scriptdragon had to update before i could use em, was worried about savegame issues, and whatnot so i didn't play for about 3 or so days (that was hell btw), and deactivated SKSE & SD after that 3 days, then started a new character (i also found it hard to live without shout combat overhaul).

at that point i set steam to offline mode, and made sure constantly that skyrim was set to don't auto-update. neither seemed to work cause the same crap happened with the 1.4.27.0 patch & as we all know the 1.5.whatnot patch. i think i'll just keep my modem unplugged from now on... lol, only partly kidding there. What’s next? annoying robotic house guests we can’t seem to get rid of provided by steam?

Same situation here. I have auto-updates disabled and Steam just goes ahead and updates the game. What is the point of having this "option", if they just ignore it? Just remove it. Please, don't pretend that I have an option when I don't. I hate dishonesty. I haven't even got round to updating the last DragonScript version and it's already useless. If I ever buy another TES game, which is unlikely as I'm getting bored with the formula, I will get it a year after release to avoid this aggravation. I rarely play games so when I do decide to play and this happens...

I like having a program centralize gaming on my machine, however when I exit a game I should NOT be advertised at. One of the reasons I quit xbox was that they made me pay monthly and then spammed adverts over my dashboard (mostly halo -.- ones too, silly microsoft.)

Offline mode doesn't even work as good as it should, you can't even go into offline mode if you didn't choose offline mode before losing internet while starting it up. WTF kind of "offline" mode is that? STEAMypile needs to get it together >.>

Too bad OnLive doesn't have a game-selling service like Steam's or I'd go with them. Their UI is just sexier. But it's for cloud... :(
