dgw594
Has anyone else's smithing gone crazy since the 1.5 patch. I can smith one iron dagger and my character jumps up 2 or 3 levels now, ridiculous. Anyone seen this?
Andine
We should start a movement of people who ask Bethesda to put out a non-steam version of Skyrim and every future game they make. GoF Does not sound like a bad idea ;) Edited March 22, 2012 by Andine
NoobusExtremus
I cannot understand why an offline single-player game requires you to connect to an online system every time you start it up (especially when I bought the box version from a brick-and-mortar store); and furthermore forces patches on you. For online multiplayer games, it's understandable to force everyone to be on the same version. My experience (first game that requires Steam) is somewhat Ok. I start the Steam client, then close the UI. Then I start the game with skse_loader. I don't get ads or other popups and don't notice any lag in the game. It's just annoying having to have Steam running. Would I prefer to not have to run Steam? Absolutely. Will I stop playing Skyrim because of Steam? No.
Rabbit1251
So when you say "disable", you just mean "set to offline mode"? If there's a more extensive legal way to do it, I'd like to hear it. Since the 1.5 patch I've heard rumors that Steam updates your game even through offline mode. Sure, it's probably just some noobrage because the guy forgot to set it to offline and won't admit it, but better safe than sorry. After all you know the 1.6 patch (or at least 1.7) is going to force horse armor upon us, and then later ask us to pay for it, lol. I had my Steam set to offline and I managed to miss this mess of an update. So for me, at least, it does work. I'm still holding firm at 1.4.21.0. badcock
I too had the auto-update turned off. I too, had the 1.5 update downloaded without my permission. Looks like it's time to block Steam at the firewall. If this kind of crap continues, I will not be buying any more games from Steam.

Rabbit Once you login to STEAM for any reason it will install the update - so if you go to look for a mod on steamworks or have any other steam game that is not set to offline mode be prepared -- as long as you are in offline mode and never connect to the Steam server you'll be fine but as soon as it gets a chance to connect for any reason it will update anything that has updates waiting since the last time no matter what settings you have selected. limenats
I got this graphic error when i logged in yesterday. it effects all grass and small debris-like rocks. anyone else had this problem too? the horizontal lines are static and are visible "through" a translucent layer of the grass, or some such crap. gives me a head-ache. oh and it is impossible to see under water at all, everything is just green. Why cant i just manually download and install patches for my self, this isn't an mmog http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b356/IamSilvar/2012-03-20_00001.jpg Remove your d3d9.dll file from the Skyrim directory. This will disable ENB (which is causing that I think). Alternatively, go to enbdev.com and get the new d3d9.dll file for version 0.108. Change the d3d9.dll file from 0.108 with the one you are running now. That fixed the problem for me. Here is the link: http://enbdev.com/download_mod_tesskyrim.htm thanks a lot, i do use Enb, but i have no environmental mods either. the pattern seems to changes every 30' or so aswell, it is like some odd artifacting. I hope this fixes the underwater blindness too, cause that pic was taken south of the blue palace in the marsh and after that ever jerk thalmor ran off into the water, same with the icerunner crew, was really annoying. EDIT: well it worked and didn't, it got rid of the grass, but on an overcast snowy mountian, i got horrible flashing/stroabing sun glare off my sword.http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b356/IamSilvar/2012-03-22_00003.jpghttp://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b356/IamSilvar/2012-03-22_00006.jpg Edited March 22, 2012 by Oddjob83

shadowfx78
the problem lies when steam gets an update itself then all the options for your games are reset to their default
