Companion-friendly Houses?

I've checked the house out. Companions sandbox OK downstairs but won't mount the wooden platform nor can I take them upstairs. It makes me wonder if there is another building stage, but I can't see the toolbox anywhere. Is there anything that will tell me that the building is complete?

 

So when you say wooden platform ... you mean the step up wooden floor to computer and storage room ?

So they are having a hard time traversing that ... then down into kitchen ?

 

The attack option was good, but I turned it off after the first attack and the Talon mercs are still spawning. I turned attacks on then clicked on Spawn Attacks Now and after the attack turned attacks off. Do I need to do something else to stop the spawns?

 

Hmmm ... not sure with that ... its not my script ... but it was a quick build just to get that option available for the beta release.

The attack options are gona get expanded , and put in a few scripted encounters , instead of just the random group between raiders and talons. But the scripted will still be a random occurence.

 

EDIT: nevermind - I hadn't activated the blue boxes. Once I'd done that they could sandbox upstairs - although they were more likely to walk outside due to the size of the house and the fact that it's an outside space. Upstairs too, they could get into a walk loop and not go downstairs. Maybe a seat up there would break them out of the loop.

 

That is strange they wouldn't sandbox up there till then ? But maybe something to do with those blue boxes functioning as activators only ? Since they are containers ... and I left the "Activate" line out of the script so they never will function as containers. The tool boxes too ...

The next installment , which I have some of it done. Is going to be the house due west of that one up on the cliff. Turning this spot back into its vanilla building. Cuz there is some good mods that use it.

 

And with that second house due south ... make that a barn type structure. So it will be a little home stead.

 

What you think of a small pond just due west in the depression of the next hill ? Then give it a low damn ... I guess just past the house northward ?

 

Also I have a vehicle for hauling materials ... for the various build quests ... 7 ... I think ? But some won't need the vehicle.

Yes, by wooden platform I meant the wooden floor where the terminal and steps are. No, before activating the blue boxes they wouldn't use it - didn't see the navmesh if there was one.

 

I don't know about the pond. Wouldn't a farmer use the water tower? Or is that too far away? A quest to install a water purifier in the tower, then feed the water to the homestead somehow? But at least one mod uses that tower. You're always stepping on someone's mod. Maybe a pond is better.

Was thinking the pond for fishing too. But also a stream feeding it , I guess comming out of the rock cliff there ... and outflow at the dam ... to hit a sewer drain down hill I guess ? I think the pond is only waist high / knee high ???

Well, after examining most of the houses on the Nexus, I couldn't find what I was looking for. Home 101 has a small lounge and I started trying to expand it, but that house has quite a few issues with the navmesh and AI packages that had my companions teleporting on top of the mannikins. I fixed those but as its main purpose is comic collecting and I couldn't find a single comic I've abandoned it lol.

 

I'm now working on expanding Rayek's Mini Hideout in Springvale, which has always been my player home anyway, perfect for the Lone Wanderer but not big enough for companions.
