All NPCs have blackface bug, what can I do?

I'm afraid that hasn't worked. Is it possible that my using the Ctril+F4 fix has somehow caused the issue to persist? Earlier on when I had this problem only the vampire faces or normal faces were broken at any given time, but now it is both at once. Like I said before, I have tried disabling both the vampire face mod and the normal face mods, and trying the game with both off and then with one off and one on, but the problem persists and all NPCs still have this issue.

I also just tried turning off USSEP instead of the face fixes but still, the problem remains.

I've tried redownloading and reinstalling already but is the only remaining step to just clear everything out and start again?

I really appreciate your help and if you have any other ideas I'd be glad to hear them.

You might need to manually remove the facegendata files. Both textures and meshes. \actors\character\facegendata\facegeom(for meshes)facetint (for textures) then whatever folder contains the bad. Just be careful and make backups.

Failing that, there is always this. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4697/ But, that's a last resort. But it will at least save you from having to reinstall the whole game.

Like I said, unless its something you can get nowhere else. Avoid modding from BethNet. Same with Steam. To big a chance they will just mess up your game. Auto updates and the like.....

Well keep trying. I'll help you out as best I can. If it comes down to it you can just uninstall all your mods and start over. If your careful you may even salvage your save games.

There's a tutorial an how to turn your character into a preset. Google it. it's not hard to find. Do the console command and backup the file it generates. That way you can at least get your toon back in the character gen.

I take it you did this? (Notes from the install page) - basically the point about using the BSA file, not necessarily the No Eyes edit... unless you use the no eyes edit version later, then would have to manually rename to bsa file to match the prefixed portion of the esp filename.

Optional black face bug fix for vampires now available in bsa format-download and install the optional HumanoidVampires.bsa, please report in the comments section if it resolved the black face issue with vampires in your game, you still need the esp along with bsa.

If you use the optional .BSA to fix the black face bug and use the No Eyes Edit version of the mod, you need to rename the
BSA to be the same as the actual plugin file you are using.

So, if you are using HumanoidVampiresNoEyesEdit.esp rename the .BSA
HumanoidVampiresNoEyesEdit.bsa for it to work.

I tried removing the facegendata files and it didn't work. I come back in a few days - it's fine. I'm pretty confused, I have to say, but I'm not going to look a gift fix in the mouth.

So thanks for your help all and willoughbian especially, I really appreciate everything.

I sometimes wonder if this sort of thing might be due to a mismatch between textures such as a 2K face mod and a 4K body. Or possibly a premature texture disorder or a post textural drip or something like that. Maybe a misbehaving eye or brow mod or a spot of bad mustard.

I've had a darker face mismatch suddenly occur in a game and then leave after one or two scene changes. Exiting the game and restarting it will usually bring it back to normal. For myself, I don't really care since I can be stoic, but I hate to see valued companions such as Vilja, Heather Casdin. or R4-04 have to suffer from this problem.

It's lucky that characters such as Inigo who rely on their own non-human good looks can escape this skin texturitis and many of the older characters have matured past this malady.

That's what I'd call discoloration or color mismatch. This type op face "bug" can indeed occur, if you mix body and head textures that don't really fit together. Discoloration can also be caused by the vanilla version of the file "blankdetailmap.dds" or other not optimized versions of this file or by "complexion" textures that don't fit the rest of your textures.

In this thread, the issue seems to be the "dark brown face bug", which is usually caused by missing or messed up FaceGen data.

In addition to this, there are the "black face bug" (black as in "pitch black"), which occurs only temporarily and is caused by insufficient free VRAM and the infamous "grey face bug", which is usually caused by conflicting NPC data (e.g. several mods editing the same NPC in different ways).
