Tolrick
Does anyone have, or know of, a tutorial on how to manage the absolute garbage that is the building system in this game? I tried to build a cool two floor place on top of another building. Nope, can't do that. Walls and floors don't match up. On top of which, the entire place is floating in the air because there are no support structure pieces I can find.So I scrapped that and just tried to build a simple building next to another one. Nope, can't do that because you keep clipping into the other walls. Bastards can make things perfectly level, but apparently forgot how to use a measuring stick to line up things. OK. So I've been getting mauled by hordes of uber-ass tankbots everywhere I go, I need to build heavy defenses around my settlements so I have a semi-safe place to hide from them.Nope, can't do that because the terrain is curved, but the walls and all other structures must be straight lines. Oh, and forget going up hills either, because it doesn't know how to do that either. This entire thing is putting me off this half-formed piece of crap game something fierce. Well, that and the swarms of robots that attack me everywhere, including when I fast travel and don't even know what's happening yet. Reloaded 15 times trying to go to a settlement, the one time I didn't die -in- the settlement, I got chased halfway back to Sanctuary by -all- the robots before they killed me anyhow. But at least if i could build decent defenses, I wouldn't feel completely useless.
MaxGreen5
Well.. I Actually feel like the building system in fallout 4 is like.. Unfinished.. It lacks so many things that could've made it perfect... But oh well.... We have mods I do strongly recommend you to use these two mods.. Homemaker: It adds a TON of new items to build stuff with.. like walls, doors, more generators that produce more energy, foundations, floors, roofs, columns... Super Etc... https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1478/Place everywhere.. Simple mod that saves you from a lot of frustration.. Basically allows you to place items anywhere.. Doesn't matter if they clip, it will be up to you.. If you want to clip items all together you can do it.. It pretty much removes the red highlighted item that doesnt let you place an item that's too close to another one https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9424/They are both inmensely endorsed mods as you can see... And last, I don't know if this came with one of those two mods or if it is part of the vanilla game... But if you press 1 or 2 while in buliding mode you will be able to turn off surface and item automatic placing.. You know that thing that places an object next to another automatically.. Which will mean you will be able to dig items into the ground if you want... Just remember that you toggled them when your items dont clamp together.. You just press 1 or 2 again and reopen the item category you're in (arrow key down, arrow key up). As I told you, I don't know if this feature is in the vanilla game (probably not) but if it came with a mod, it's probably "place anywhere".. I hope i helped you And I almost forgot.. If you're tired of seeing s#*! in the streets and leaves and junk and trash that you cant remove... Don't worry.. Scrap everything is for you.. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5320/
kevkiev
I'm not a huge fan of the building/settlement aspect of the game but, man, Place Everywhere is still an absolute must-have in my books. I imagine it lets build fans go crazy, but it simply prevents me from doing so. The re-scaling feature is extremely useful. And I recently discovered the mod's "extra object selection" option, enabled by hitting [insert], which allows for scrapping of many objects you otherwise can't - even more aggro fixed. MTracy1991
There is also a snap on mod that will help line up your buildings, search that in the mod bar. That'll really assist with building!
