Wolfer4004
You are trying to install the wrong version. Look at your "Status" Tab, pretty sure it says incompatible version. DL SSE version from Silverlock.org and add it to you DATA folder manually.Current SE build 2.0.6 (runtime 1.5.23)
Jekyll3492
I had the same issue and for me adding the data folder to a zip instead of a rar archive solved the problem

tomomi1922
For SKSE64 you NEED to install it manually. Mod managers cannot (rather, do not want to) deal with anything outside Data folder. And SKSE64 has half of its files outside Data folder. Who do not recommend manually install SKSE64? In fact, if you HAVE to ask this question, I recommend NOT using mod managers installing SKSE64.Both SKSE64 and ENB are not mods, do not try to install them like mods. Algabar
Who do not recommend manually install SKSE64? I do. And so does Gopher, definitely one of the most experienced authors of guides and tutorials: The reason for installing the "data" folder with a mod manager is simple: This way, you can make sure you remove everything from the previous installation when doing an update of SKSE. TBH, at least up to now leftover files from previous installations of SKSE64 don't seem to be much of a problem. They should simply not be used any more by SKSE and therefore don't cause actual issues. But you never know. Besides that, it's never a good idea to have your game folder cluttered with unnecessary and / or outdated stuff...
tomomi1922
You got a point. But it seems like people are trying to shove the entire SKSE zip file to a mod manager, like a mod. Anyway, I use MO2, and I have my own SKSE64 Script as a mod, with its own mod folder. I put it there manually. However, that is probably 2 things in Skyrim you ever install manually: ENB and SKSE64. With all things going on with SKSE64 right now, it is a good idea to know the content of its folder. There aren't that many files anyway. Considering the instruction to install XPMSSE, we would have to download NiOverride from Oldrim, install it, and then delete 2 files. I don't think NMM can handle that. I don't know about Vortex. And MO2 is made to handle things like that, with each mod in its own mod folder.
