Can't DL old .exe - missing app info for 489830

Spent weeks viewing (and taking notes) MOST Youtube videos re: install/setup/tools/mods PRIOR to install. Have spent 3 days lurking on various boards trying to find a solution to this problem..... not a noob....

Just purchased SE (disc). Bought a new SSD just to house all things Skyrim. By the book install - ran it once to establish .ini and prefs. Saved .ini via ingame console. Disabled Steam updates.

The first (only) thing I've DL'ed was SKSE64 2.0.6 - ran the skse launcher and got the newer game than supported error.

Went to the steam console db and ran "download_depot 489830 489833 911281757511576659". I believe this is version 1.5.23 yes? Is that the version 2.0.6 supports? Anyway - got the missing app error noted in the Topic title. I've seen this error mentioned a couple/few times on boards but no replies of resolution. 'sup? Am I screwed until skse catches up?

BTW I just copied the "data" folder from skse into skyrim. Would an install via MO2 be better?

Thanks for any help

My paticulars:

OS - Win 10

Skyrim Legendary Edition

SkyrimSE.exe version - 1.9.32 (actually on disk it installed as TESV.exe - no problem renaming it - right?)

A couple of things:

1.9.32 is the latest version of the old Skyrim, AKA the Legendary Edition. The Special Edition is a separate game. From what it sounds like, you installed the old Skyrim, not the Special Edition.

Next, I believe you're getting an error because A) see above, and B) Steam doesn't normally allow you to install older files, unless the developer specifically allows it - which I don't think Bethesda has.

Well raise my rent... I thought Legendary was SE (it has the 3 DLC's). Guess I am a noob. But if that's the case, why is skse64 2.0.6 telling me I have a newer version than it supports? Will skse 1.7.3 work? Again, I'm running Windows 10 64 bit.... I'll try it after this post.

steam://nav/console gets me to Steams db console (see procedure & #'s above) where lots of folks have posted success at DL'ing previous .exe versions.

I think that might explain the app error however. I'm trying to DL a SkyrimSE .exe but Steam only sees I have a Skyrim .exe - actually TESV .exe - that clues me in now.

Dammit - I wanted SE - thanks Amazon!!!!

Thanks very much for the timely reply my friend

Why is it Amazons fault that you ordered the wrong game?

I would say because Amazon (just looked) does not sell the Special Edition of Skyrim for PC. They, as far as I can tell, only sell it for Xbox and PS4.

I searched for "Skyrim SE" and the Amazon page was the first that popped up - Skyrim SE was not a choice - Legendary was - and I assumed wrongly. So yes indeed, I screwed up. I worked for an Amazon warehouse until last Thursday when I quit (with extreme prejudice) so please forgive me for venting - kind sir.....
