1st person meshes for custom armor.

Hello there fellow modders.

I have run into a little snag, possibly because im very tired.

Im just taking my time to wrap up the final pieces in my Dovahaar armor mod (see signature).

I have everything ready, for the 2 last days i have been working with this armor making different versions of it, no problems getting them to work though, but i ran into a little problem today, im unable to get 1st person meshes to work without crashing the game.

I know it's the 1st person mesh, what i basicly did was stealing a 1st person mesh, applied textures and so on, but i can't get it to work. This was not a problem when the armor was a simple replacer, now that i made it stand alone it seems to be having problems.

I have compared other armors, duplicating settings, changing things and i've lost track of everything i tried, except that im using a 1st person mesh that matches the torso mesh i used on my modified armor, the game gets the standard CTD if i try to quipt that armor.

However, not if i remove the 1st person meshes from the folder. I've also tried using my standard armor as a 1st person mesh, that did of course not work and i did'nt expect it to either, but that was the only thing i had'nt tried yet.

So im wondering, is there something critical i have to look out for in 1st person meshes? I have a feeling that there is a node problem. Will the game crash if there is a missmatch from standard armor skeleton to the 1st person skeleton for example? I know they are different, but there must be some inconsistency that causes this somehow.

Normally i don't bother asking, but just googling/searching for an answer or troubleshoot until i find out whats wrong, but i found nothing so far. The tutorials only mentions how to get these things into the game, but i need to know more about 1st person meshes, there is something im missing here and i bet it's obvious, but my tired eyes just does'nt catch it.

The 1st person skeleton is basically the same as the regular skeleton in terms if the bones..I assume you can just skin to the 3rd person skeleton.nif. So personally I don't think it's a node thing. If you use your regular 3rd person mesh as 1st person nifs but make it as a replacer do it work? if it doesn't then maybe it is a node thing, if it does then that would suggest that you can rig to the 3rd person skeleton as normal and it'll be compatible with the 1st person...

Thanks for the replies. I have already rigged the 1st person mesh identical to the 3rd person mesh, that does'nt work, i think i will try again, but this time i will rebuild the mesh and try again, must be something i did wrong in the process.

I have the same issue - did you find a fix yet?

Nope, i trashed the project and moved on for the time beeing, don't have time to get stuck on one project over a long time unfortunatly.

The only thing i know is that the mesh must be weighted accordingly to a 1st person skeleton, it does'nt matter how the mesh is however, as long as the weighting is right. I got it to work on other models, but this model seems to be rather stubborn.
