bigman28
What is this "Archive Invalidation" a mod is asking me to have set?
Quetzlsacatanango
Anytime you replace something that is in the bsa, you need archiveinvalidation to tell the game to use your replacer instead of what's in the bsa. If you use fomm or nmm it is just a button/menu selection.

Fonger
never heard of FOMM crashing while selecting archive invalidation that means your only choice would be to use the archive invalidation mod or to do it manually
bigman28
I got it, the crash was due to using the GECK at the same time as FOMM.
formalrevya
I got it, the crash was due to using the GECK at the same time as FOMM. Download and install FOMM. Once installed, go to Documents\My Games\ FalloutNV and right click the Fallout doc. Look at Properties, if it is Read Only uncheck it. Open the doc and Ctrl+f. Find SInvalidationFile. Change the [Archive] block to look like this: [Archive]SInvalidationFile=iRetainFilenameOffsetTable=1iRetainFilenameStringTable=1iRetainDirectoryStringTable=1bCheckRuntimeCollisions=0bInvalidateOlderFiles=1bUseArchives=1SArchiveList=Fallout - AI!.bsa, Fallout - Misc.bsa, Fallout - Voices1.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Textures2.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa In the same folder find the FalloutPrefs doc. Again, look at Properties, if it is Read Only uncheck it. Open the doc and Ctrl+f. Find SInvalidationFile. Change the [Archive] block to like you did for the Fallout doc. Now go to Program Files\Steam\steammaps\common\fallout new vegas and open the Fallout_default config doc. Change the [Archive] block like you did for the Fallout doc. Once all of that is done, open the FOMM. Go to Tools and select Archive Invalidation from the drop down menu. Toggle archive invalidation on and off and then leave it ON. Quoting that from Kendo2 and the dimonized body type 3 mod page. But that's pretty much all there is to it. you can also do it with Nexus mod manager.
