JJEBHR Posted April 1, 2012 Share Posted April 1, 2012 Please help. Since the 1.5 update I've been completely unable to load Skyrim with any mod. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 4 or 5 times. Each time I deleted all Skyrim files in Program Files and Documents and cleaned the registry. From a clean install I can load a new game and old saves without mods without a problem. Changing the .ini files for the Hi-Res DLC always CTD's so I don't change the archive. I've played with up to 100 mods BEFORE 1.5 with no issue at all and 90% of the mods I use are just texture mods; Better snow, Water and terrain, black Shadowmere, Static Mesh improvement, etc. I was using SKSE and SkyUI, they're gone. I always use BOSS to check load order, I've tried WryeBash and absolutely nothing, that I can find, works... Arbabender Posted April 1, 2012 Share Posted April 1, 2012 I also would like to find a fix. I've been plagued ever since launch with CTD's and bugs and constant re-installations. No matter the patch, no matter the mods. After a certain period of time, Skyrim would just give up on me. I can load the game up fine, but as soon as I want to actually play it and load up a prior save, it loads and just on entering the world it crashes. I can start up a new character fine, up until I leave Helgen Keep, upon which it will crash. I remember that SkyBoost worked for me, but that hasn't been updated to either of the 1.5 patches. Sadly I'm reduced to watching in jealousy at those mod spotlights I am subscribed too on YouTube. For interests sake, I'm running the following:x86 Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (7601 from memory, correct me if I'm wrong)Intel Core i5 750 @2.67GHz4.00GB RAM (3.50GB usable)NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 w/ 1024MB GDDR3 (DX10(v290.53)) I usually run the game on medium settings, with only textures on high, and have MSAA/FXAA off. SESFX (ENB) is enabled with Lite SSAO. I have a few texture mods to make the game a little bit prettier, and I can manage a solid framerate. Well, I could manage a solid framerate. your computer it's a good new for you, ok, fist i view you have dowloaded more time, i will say you something i have forget to say to all the people, first go to your folder of skyrim on your computer, do not enter in data, rest in the skyrim in this look for a folder they are called "backup", make a copy of the folder they are inside they are called "The elder scroll v", you have already downloaded one time so no need to download it each time, and put it in a save place, this folder are the hole game, the same thing you downloaded from internet, like this if you need to uninstall the game you will be able to install the game whit this and no by internet, and remember, this file are only for you, not for other..., well, now it's make i want to say you before beginning i can try to have the minimum requirement, so the first thing to it's to make a copy to your save game, put it in a safe place, ok other thing i want to explain you, you have upgrading to the patch 1.5, the change they have make in it, are not compatible whit more of the mod, (it's not the fault to anyone) the compagny try to arrange the game and the moddler try to follow, and now we are between the two, tha patch have been made, and now the moddler need to make a patch for her mod (because the difference of the string and all), it's for that more of your mod don't work, they will work only if the moddler make a patch for his mod, until then they have only to wait, but if you are an user of "nmm" if they have patch they will give you for your mod, i know now the people of nmm try to arrange all too, even her they have been taking by surprise, so i don't know but i think they begin to arrange her situation, anyway... ok we begin, first you have make a good uninstall reinstall of you game and make a clean registry ok, now try this, disable all your mod, (keep only bethesda mod active), the bethesda mod are : Skyrim.esm,Update.esmHighResTexturePack01.espHighResTexturepack02.esp ok i think it' all, now make a copy of your folder, my document/my game/skyrim, copy your folder skyrim to a save place, (like with your savegame), they will not need it but all can always good to something and you can keep it for reference, now it's make, delete delete the folder Skyrim from your my document...ect..., ok, now you say you have not installed skse, (it's peharp one of the reason why your game crash, because the mod they use it they need it, but we don't install it now, more far...now make sure you don't use mod (an i hope no), like "script python" because her too some mod have nned her, but this programs are bugged for now, so until they fix it you mush not use it to avoid crash, if you have some mod they use it delete this mods, because you will crash in running game, but it's hard to know wich mod they use it because it's not all the moddler they have make a mod they say it, more of the time they write this in the description of her mod on her page, and it's one problem because it's seem they have no big people they take time to read, and they finish by having problem because some moddler do not make an entire mod, they make it half and they use the mod of other in complementary, so, if a people dowload a mod like this and they d'ont read this, they will have only an half of the mod, so crash... ok now it's time to look if they have some broken file, so open steem and go make a validation of your game cache, i don't explain you how to do you have already make it, it's look to check your corrupted files, if they make something it's good thing, if they make nothing it's good thing too, when it's finished, now in steam, go take a look to your game list and click right mouse button on skyrim, choose property, in the general tab you have only one case they can be enable or not, disable it, in the other tab,"update", choose if you want the update will be always dowloaded if they have one, or never dowload the update, this is up to each player to choose her way, now under this you will see a place writing steamclown, if up to each player to choose, me i love better making a local save to be able to play whit my save, or if i whist to play offline, to your desk, now this part are made, ok, go to your desktop, now if all have going well we have disable all the mod and keeping only the bethesda mod, deleted the my game..., make a copy of the backup of all the original game, the savegame and the skyrym folder they are in the my document, i have make this to make you to be calm whit yourself, like this they can arrive anything you will be able to reput it like it's thise before we begin whit all the crash all have saved in this, hmmm, peharp you can rename the folder "Crashfile" no it's a joke :), ok now it's time to make test ( don't use your old savegame and thing we have put beside), no skse no other program just the bethesda skyrim vanilla, try it (ok i have forget something, make sure all your driver are up to date) try it now and in the lauch box push option, ajust your option in looking if it's your video card, sound card, and all is ok like you want, after this, close the option, and go to the data, make sure it's only the bethesda mod they are enable, if yes close this windows and try..., make a small test in create any character fast (it's just a test so just test if all going well chosing eninathing fast eye, hais body, try the button if all is ok after, to make the next small test ... you can go until you enter in the market in riverwood, try to look on your way if all are ok, the flame if they have lag when you move, the clouds, the color, the shadow, all...try sometime to go fast to view if all going well, it's normal when you run if the texture have no time to always showing, think you have the limit and they have big thing in the game, look what your combat like, the sounds all, try to talk to one people to buy something, if all goin well ok, you can go out... ok, how to install skse, i have make this thing for other people and i don't want to rewrite so i copie here : (you have the last pacht of windows, so it's the # 1 below (you mush only take one (the 1 or the 2, not the two) 1 - Make sure you have the latest skse version (1.4.15) for those they have they have the version of skyrim (1.5.26.0) the first link you find here : http://skse.silverlock.org/ or 2 - Make sure you have AngeGardien Posted April 1, 2012 Share Posted April 1, 2012 ok finally i have decided to not continue now, i am tired and taking more hours to writing the last post more up, i need to sleep too Ha Ha Ha, but just to say you before i sleep on my computer, if something have bad goind during the test like not start or thing like that, i think i remember it's peharp because of the "nmm", so if it's happen try to look on her side "i have viewing this i think but not sure, they have something to do if it's happen and it's your test crash i think it's because of some file from nmm, ok i go now i will return when i up for a litle time, but if'all going well and you want to try to active your mod one by one go for it, but by the lauching of skyrim, or skse, not by nmm it's important... if the fist work well continue to add other, if one make crash disable it, you know this one have problem... but try to talk to the people of "nmm" before using nmm they will say you what to do to not crashing your files and peharp you will have surely better information from her than me, because they are programmer... ok now it's true i return to view in this post if all have going well if i have time tomorow... JJEBHR Posted April 4, 2012 Author Share Posted April 4, 2012 Nope, none of those worked but thank you. I reinstalled the entire game from scratch and it runs fine ONLY using the DLC texture mods. I added the Fall of the Space Core and that seems fine. Then I added Static Mesh Improvement and I got a crash after waiting for 24 hours. As far as I can tell it's related to the Companions "brute" quest CR04. I'm in Whiterun and talked to Aela about the Companions but I haven't talked to Kodlak or visited the Hall yet.Here's my Log can anyone help with the details please? MadWizard25 Posted April 6, 2012 Share Posted April 6, 2012 A lot of people have been reporting the C04 script issue, and as far as im aware there is no fix for it yet. What might work, and this is gonna suck, sorry, is to start a new game. Its likely that if you have been adding and removing mods, re-installing etc, and have been using your original save game to do this, you have probably broken your save game. Skyrim saves are delicate, and all the actions you have taken will leave variables in your save game that shouldnt be there, causing it to crash. You mention it works fine with vanilla skyrim, so it does sound like one of your mods, when loaded, conflicts with a variable thats permanently been saved into your save game. That or your SMIM version is out of date (it updated recently), or any other mods you have. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have my old saves in another folder but I have started completely from scratch and still crash frequently and it always goes back to CR04. Just because the log shows errors with scripts running and suddenly terminating means it could be a secondary effect; game crashes due to mod, scripts terminate in the middle of whatever your doing. In fact, since im freezing a lot (not CTD, straight out frozen) since 1.5.26, i also check the logs, just in case. I have had last lines including CR04, Weapon Activate SCRIPT, Wisp... none of it seems related. All errors, but i really dont think they are related to the freezes, or in your case CTD. Allegedly the latest patch screwed something up in the world cells. So what may be happening is that when you start to load mods, these mods add variables into your saved game. So even when you deactivate those mods, those variables with remain in your save game, causing you to continue to CTD even if the mod is deactivated. It makes figuring out which mod is bad almost impossible. Only solution is start a new game with no mods, get close to riverwood, and then start activating one by one. If you get to one that causes the crashes, even after you have only loaded 3 or 4, deactivate it. Then play some more, see if you still get crashes. If you do still get crashes then that mod has made your save game dirty. Now start another new game, with the mods that work activated. Ignore the bad mod, go to riverwood, repeat same process, etc. Bottom line is the only way to really figure out which mods are ok is by starting a new game each time a certain mod screws it up. Eventually (i hope) you will figure out which mods are screwing up you game and leaving a dirty save game. Its a long and tedious process, but atm its really the only way. I've already done the install/re-install and it's still crashing even though my new install does not have any mods. Has anyone else had this problem? It only happens when I'm firing a bow.
