rhys33an
âI get this error msg when I try to activate older mods I've downloaded. I think it's an easy fix, like changing the date in the .ini file? i am not sure how to do this, or even if it is the correct fix, but I just found curry monkey's dwemer and glass armor retexturing mod (Underwater Ruins) and I NEED to get it to work on my steam morrowind goty. Some help, please?
Dragon32
Use Wrye Mash: (1) On the Mods tab all mods should have a green checkbox. (2) If any mods have a yellow checkbox, select them and then look for the Save button in the bottom right. Click that and the mod file will be updated and the error removed. The error just means that the mod was created with an earlier version of Morrowind to the one you're using. Saving in Mash will update this version info. (3) If you have any mods with red checkboxes then you do not have a ESM file needed by that mod loaded. Check the mod's readme.
rhys33an
Thank you very much, Dragon. I hope Wyre Mash is an executable? I mean, it's an app? I'll find out! no need to reply. I'll also be back if I screw up with that download, lol. But I'd rather not mess with the .ini, anyway.
Dragon32
Try this version - https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/45439 It's a recently released fork, looks good but I haven't tried it myself.
rhys33an
My NMM isn't working for some reason I can't figure out. I may have changed a path accidentally. Likewise, I can't get any version of Wyre Mesh to work. I need to tackle this problem when I'm firing all cylinders. Sleep deprived. Also, my computer skills are very rusty, and were never so hot to begin with.

I use windows 10 and Wyre Mash didn't start at all until I changed the compatibility.
leonardo2
Try this version - https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/45439 It's a recently released fork, looks good but I haven't tried it myself.I'm gonna to test it myself as I helped Sharlikran late last year with testing for his WMSA fork and here is the thread. Which is quite stable. https://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/topic/5068-wipz-wrye-mash/ Edited March 10, 2018 by leonardo2
rhys33an
Thanks all. Wrye mash is working for me, but I'm not very fluent with the uses. Is it necessary to merge lists each time you add a new mod? I suspect yes. I have to really study that readme. I know it's possible to "clean" dirty refs using Wrye, but I think I'm not using it correctly. I right-click on the mod and scroll down to repair refs. Each time Wrye scans a mod, it tells me it finds no errors. Strange, because I definitely saw doubling in my game. I went back to an earlier save and the doubling was gone. I tried to clean the save game with Horatio's ESP Cleaner. It told me I had a clean mod before I played it and found the doubling. But that is less a problem than my monsters sinking halfway thru the floor. (I posted another thread about that a few hours earlier.)
Dragon32
Thanks all. Wrye mash is working for me, but I'm not very fluent with the uses. Is it necessary to merge lists each time you add a new mod? I suspect yes. <snip>You only need to re-create a merged levelled list plugin if you've added or removed a mod which changes levelled lists. If that sentence made you go "Huh?" then best to re-generate after any change to your mod list. <snip> I know it's possible to "clean" dirty refs using Wrye, but I think I'm not using it correctly. I right-click on the mod and scroll down to repair refs. Each time Wrye scans a mod, it tells me it finds no errors. Strange, because I definitely saw doubling in my game. I went back to an earlier save and the doubling was gone. <snip>Number of things Dirty references are something you find in mods (they contain values for objects which are unchanged from the vanilla game). They can break other mods which load earlier in your load order but have their intentional changes overwritten by the mod with dirty refs. Repair refs command on the Mods tab is rarely used. IIRC, Mash will display an error message if it encounters a problem mod which needs that command run. For doubling: (1) Saves tab, select the savegame you want to fix. (2) When the savegame is selected the list in the bottom right will be populated with the mods currently associated with the savegame. (3) Right click the column headers ("File" and "Num") and choose Sync to Load List (this will change the mods associated with the savegame to match those currently selected on the Mods tab). (4) Click Save (5) Right click the savegame and choose Repair All. (6a) Optionally, right click the savegame and choose Remove > Debris Cells. (7) The checkbox for the save should now be purple. Not guaranteed to fix all doubling but the best we have. Also, use the Morrowind Code Patch if you don't already, that makes changes to the executable to minimise the occurrence of doubling. <snip> I tried to clean the save game with Horatio's ESP Cleaner. It told me I had a clean mod before I played it and found the doubling. <snip>I've not heard of that one. Horatio released the first levelled list merger (I think) but for mod cleaning I'd recommend either TESTool or tes3cmd. It is possible to use both, but for most people one or the other will be enough. http://wiki.theassimilationlab.com/mmw/TESTool#Cleaning_Mods http://wiki.theassimilationlab.com/mmw/TES3cmd#Clean_plugins
