Dolizoss Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 (edited) I recently updated Skyrim to version 1.5.26 as well as SKSE. I ran the game using Nexus Mod Manager. Everything was fine until the loading screen - it was correct, yet a few seconds after it appeared Skyrim just turned off, no error, just poof, and it's gone. Then I tried selecting New Game and this is what I saw: What can I do to repair these issues? EDIT:When I uncheck Update.esm, it works correctly. What does the Update esm do anyway? Dolizoss Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 I haven't bought Skyrim through Steam. I bought a copy on DVDs. I don't even have Steam installed. I can't use it to perform this method.

Dolizoss Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 How does mine work then? As I said, I don't have Steam installed.
Rabbit1251 Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Interesting. What is your installation directory path than? Rabbit
leopardkaos99 Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 I suggest using just using the first 1.5 update (1.5.24 I think) and wait until something comes out to fix this widespread, also Update.esm is the file that uses the updated files, if you don't use that then you aren't using the update
bben46 Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 When you install Skyrim using the legal DVD version it goes to the Steam site and has you create a FREE account. Then it will download the updates and patches automatically and FREE. This is when you get the update.esm If you don't have steam, then you will have more problems than just not being able to get updates. You will not be able to use the steam workshop to get mods. And many people who have pirated versions cannot get NMM or other utility programs to work. The Nexus is not a pirate friendly site - we ban thieves (pirates) with no warnings and no recourse.

Dolizoss Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 I bought it on an auction site (allegro.pl). The DVDs seemed legit (probably somebody had the printer for discs), though the box looked tattered (I just thought that previous user had damaged it). It was about 60% of the normal price, so I probably bought a pirated game. It's a first time something like that happened to me... Although the update 1.4 worked just fine, while both 1.5 updates broke the game. What should I do in that case?
