i've downloaded a lot of mods for FO3 and i'm loving them, but something isn't completely happy because it crashes to desktop too often for comfort (as in i have to quicksave all the time and it's frustrating). sometimes when i load up the game it freezes on the opening scene with no cursor (but the music continues rolling).

here is my load order:

Fallout3.esm

BrokenSteel.esm

CRAFT.esm

CALIBR.esm

FO3 Wanderers Edition - Main File.esm

iHUD.esm

Mart's Mutant Mod.esm

FO3 Wanderers Edition - Alternate Travel.esp

Sharing and Caring Companions.esm

FO3 Wanderers Edition - Main File.esp

FO3 Wanderers Edition - Followers Enhanced.esp

FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Broken Steel.esp

FO3 Wanderers Edition - Optional Restore Tracers (automatics only).esp

FO3 Wanderers Edition - Optional Restore Tracers.esp

CRBSOR.esp

Auto Aim Fix v1.1.esp

1PipboyPDA.esp

TSoutfitv1.esp

TSbag.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Broken Steel.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - Master Menu Module.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - Natural Selection.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - Tougher Traders.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - Zones Respawn.esp

Total active plugins: 26

Total plugins: 31

any advice would be very helpful and much appreciated!

thanks

i have to quicksave all the time

Don't. Those can easily become corrupt. And disable autosaves too. If you don't want to make a savegame manually all the time, you should try CASM instead.

You're also missing the FOIP patch for MMM and FWE. Get it here: FOIP

Once you've installed the FOIP patch, these plugins will become redundant and can be safely deleted:

Mart's Mutant Mod - Master Menu Module.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - Natural Selection.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - Tougher Traders.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - Zones Respawn.esp

Note: It's highly recommended to make a (new) merged patch/bashed patch after installing any of the FOIP patches.

By the way: If you want try replacing your .ini, you're better of trying this one instead: FALLOUT INI EXTENDED V2

thanks guys for the advice (and the warnings!)

i sifted through the mods to find out what was breaking the game and it seems to be the Pipboy PDA. running fine now (touch wood) but i will do all the above suggestions anyway to improve the game's performance. many thanks!
