IGSpelly
@afterlifecircle and what was the point of your post? To tell me that there is indeed a mention of 3rd person? Well then, please go into the game and press F1... did it do anything for you? No, ofcourse not. Because they have disabled it. This is not the code here. This is just configuration-files that are meaningless without the underlying code... which is the case here. ffs. There is also Cryengine commands to Detach camera and allow for moving the camera. These are not present in KCD. And so on and so on.
javier66pazdan
What the .... Warhorse have do. Why they are so stubborn. They wanted make KCD so realistic that they have spoiled game for many players. So what now? We should send a petition to them in order to get enable the ability to change camera position? chypres89
+1 i would love to see my char in-game in third person just to look or explore while in that mode. i\m sure combat would not work but at least have an option to look at my char in the in-game environment would help my immersion even more. IGSpelly
The ability to alter camera will likely come with the mod-tools down the line. I do not know when they plan to release them however.
textitexto
Would not want to break yours dreams, but this is a lot more complicated than you think. The character will probably have neither body nor animation in 3rd person view.So 3rd person's cam would only show you a kind of blob with arms and legs. You need to create a 3D model of the character with every combination of weapons/armors AND animate him... Perhaps you could use the same model than the one use for the gathering/speaking, but still, all animations for walking, looting and fighting need the be done by hands... So don't expect it too soon. spikemapper
Guys, and what about some mod that would allow us to create cinematics etc, removing hud , flying camera positioning or at least using pad to make smooth camera rotations around dying enemies, i love this game so much that i would like to make some bloody movies from it :
IGSpelly
As we have said previously, warhorse has removed the camera altering console commands. This means we either need warhorse to reenable them with a hotfix, or wait for some coder to find a workaround to bypass and essentially hack the game. The mods we are getting right now are either 3rd party programs, such as reshade and autohotkey. Or basic configuration tweaks. If warhorse has not put it in a text-file, then there is little we can do. As to all the animations being absent, that is not really the full truth. Reason is that you can view your body from the first person perspektive, as well as there seems to be nothing henry can do, that the enemies cannot also do. However, we will likely need to add a head to the poor chap, since that would likely cause clipping in 1st person, as well as fence jumping and other acrobatics that is likely missing since I have yet to see an npc do these actions. Additionally we got the potential problem of combat system. WarH likely has not implemented any controllers formhaving the camera away from the action. So yea, we will likely need the mod-kit as well as the support of actually talanted coders. Only time will tell if 3rd person is practical. Though I really hope it will be. I can tolerate 1stP, but I will always prefer 3rd person
TheDeathBook
+1 , waiting for it , hope a modder will be able to release it that would be awesome !
IGSpelly
Just prophesising here, but I think why I know why they disabled the 3rd person camera for release. Marketing. All open world games have tons of buggs that pass by companies with massive QA departments, so they knew they would never avoid the stigma of "broken on release". If they had included a non-supported 3rd person, then much like a picture of someone eating a banana, people on the internet would misrepresent the game... which sadly is enough to convince the mobs of peasants on the internet that the game is suffering from bugs and unfinished corporate greed, than it really is. I can fully understand this decision. Their company rides on the success of this game. Not to mention the years they have plowed into the project. I expect that there will be several animations missing, such as jumping fences, picking up items, etc, as well as clipping-issues on the back of models. The layered system means that every single possible combination has to be manually checked. Which leads to a massive time-save if all they have to do is the front of the character. And we know for a fact that some combinations will clip horribly even WITH this reduction of work-load. AFAIK, they dont have an automated system for model-culling or clipping sollution. The Waffenrocks might looks like a sollution a script would arrive at, but I think that it is actually a product of massive work-load and an alluring simple sollution. Sure, they all look to be make of cloth one palm in thickness. But they dont clip all that much. Anyways, what does this mean. Well, even if they turn on the console command for 3rd person... which they should, no matter what... to get a functioning 3rd person camera, we the community need to: 1. Produce animations2. complete textures and fix a litteral endelss stream of clipping issues.3. completely rework the targeting system4. completely build a 3rd person damage system since it is likely based on the camera being the center for attacks, blocks, and if you hit or miss. While there are people who could do this solo, I think that this will require a community effort. And access to a script extender and various other tools. The 3rd person camera might be the Unicorn, in similar terms in how combat mods for Skyrim is a unicorn, since they never really make combat fun. I hope I am wrong. But we should define the design in these forums. As well as be prepared to each of us pitch in the time to learn to fix clipping issues, both learning whatever tools is provided, and learning how to not make stupid game-breaking edits. Which means that we will see a 3rd person camera AFTER new models and items, new animations, and a thriving armor-modding community. This will likely NOT be done in the coming months. Or I am full of s#*!, and we will get an update that adds a perfect 3rd person camera within a week.
plaxeko
Someone mentioned 3rd person might not have animations or models. I am not sure about that considering the fact that you can look down at your body and you cast shadows. It might not look good in 3rd person, but its probably still there. My guess is that 3rd person breaks all the other systems...IE looting, combat, riding, etc. And either looks really bad or is completely whacked out and you can't even do the basic interactions in the game. So they just made it difficult to create the mod bc they are worried about ppl downloading the mod and being pissed it doesn't work. Well. My guess but who knows why. What I do know is being a in that community for a long time, the idea of 3rd person was constantly brought up. A lot of people were really adamant about 3rd person NOT being an option and how immersion breaking it would be. Even if it was an option, they were loud and annoying about it. Mind you its a single player game (this is why the world has fascists...jk). So not sure if its just how they envisioned the game or what, but it would have been a nice option. having said that, its a damn well made game so its hard to get too upset. :)
