Reinstalled Windows - Settings and Map completion reset

Hey Nexus,

after reinstalling my Win10 client (own partition, not shared with game files) I have problems with my Morrowind installation. Savegames and mods are still installed and working, but settings (keybindings in particular) and map progress(discovered location and visited areas) are missing or reset.

The keybinding problems is easy enough to solve, just bind them again.

But the map progression is a bit harder, I could let them appear on map with "FillMap" command, but that would show cities I didn't visit yet, and areas I've been to, are not affected by that.

There were no files under my user profile (like Skyrim or Fallout), all Morrowind files are on a partition that was not affected by the reinstall (including savegames and .ini files)

It's not a dealbreaker, but maybe you guys have any idea.

I'm using the steam version with the add-ons.

IIRC, map state is saved in the save game. If you've changed loaded mods (again, IIRC) then any exterior Cells which a changed / deactivated mod affected will be cleared on the world map. I.e. goes back to the default brown texture. I think you just need to visit the area again and the world map will get re-filled with a texture, and city markers etc. show up.

Thanks for your answer, but why would it happen ? There were not changes to mods or anything. The installaion and all parts of the game (settings, mods, savegames etc.) were not affected by the reinstall of my Win10.

Curiously my visited areas are still visible and marked on the local map, ut not on the world map.

Are you trying to revive an old installation of Morrowind?

If you are then use the GetMWRoot tool, which is an exe included in the old BSA Browser. Just extract the archive into an empty folder and double click on the GetMWRoot.exe file then open the mwroot.txt file in Notepad.

Not really, save game was pretty recent (~1 year)
