Wrye and Boss problem

Hello all. I am new to both Wrye Bash and BOSS, as I have only used the FOMM and NVMM and never really bothered with heavy mods until recently with Skyrim.

I cant get BOSS to show up on the bottom of WB like a tutorial says. I have no idea what im doing wrong, could anyone shed some insight?

Pardon me if I posted this in the wrong area, I just figured this was the closest to what I needed.

Im also getting a problem that when moving my skyrim folder from steam to games the NMM doesn't recognize it, even after I set it to track the esm in the games section.

Thanks again in advance for any advice.

I'm not currently using Wrye Bash (so I could be wrong), but I don't believe it's been updated to support the newest version of BOSS. Basically, just use Wrye Bash for it's bashed patch function.

As far as utilities not recognizing a cut & paste of your installation, it's possible that the utility in question simply looks in the directory you initially told it to. A reinstall of said utility should clear up any issues, if this is the case.

It's also possible that the utility looks for registry keys to tell it where the game is installed. If this is the case, you'll have to uninstall Skyrim, use something to clean the registry keys that the uinstallation process leaves behind (I recommend uninstalling with Revo Uninstaller for this, but CCleaner is also useable, if you know what you're doing), reboot your machine, and then reinstall Skyrim. For tips on how to save your current mods, game saves, and config files you should read BBen's Oblivion Reinstallation Procedure. Everything in it still works for Skyrim.

  • 9 months later...

Hello! I'm having some trouble with BOSS and Wrye Bash at the moment and felt this may be the best place to post something about it. I was modding Skyrim all day yesterday after uninstalling/reinstalling the game due to CTD issues from improper modding. I've had the game for about a month and just getting used to modding and what to do to fix things. I installed Wrye Bash and BOSS early on after installing a few HD textures for the game, then continued to add new mods, every so often running Wrye Bash and clicking on BOSS at the bottom of the Wrye Bash window to resort my mods and make sure things go well. Everything worked great yesterday, and ran BOSS one more time to check on what I needed to do to clean the mods I had, and was planning on attempting to clean my mods today. When I woke up this morning, I opened Steam, I opened Wrye Bash and clicked on the BOSS button at the bottom as usual. But now, BOSS doesn't recognize any mods I installed except for SKSE in the SKSE plugin and Skyrim.esm is the only recognized plugin. Thankfully I ran BOSS one more time last night with no problems, and sorted my mods. The only things I needed to fix were the dirty edits that BOSS mentioned for my mods before. But now it doesn't recognize any other plugins, moving all the mods I installed to the Unrecognized Plugins tab.

I looked up some videos online, looked through the forums but couldn't find anything under "BOSS not recognizing mods" or any kind of variation similar to that phrase. I tried running Skyrim normally through the normal Launcher and NOT SKSE, played the game for a minute or so, turned it off and tried to run BOSS again but still no changes and not recognizing any of my mods. I do have BOSS placed somewhere else and NOT in my Skyrim folder, but was told through the many How-To's online that placement of BOSS does not matter so long as you don't mind it asking you which game you want it to run. The only game I have installed in my computer is Skyrim anyway. Do you think I should place BOSS in with Skyrim? Should I uninstall BOSS then reinstall, this time in my Skyrim directory? Will uninstalling/reinstalling BOSS mess with my mods/ Skyrim in any way that it will cause any CTD's as soon as I do so? As of right now, the game works fine, as I mentioned before, I sorted my mods and rearranged the placement properly last night before going to bed using Wrye Bash and BOSS, with BOSS only telling me about the dirty edits, which I was going to try and fix today. I have not added any new mods in the game either, since last night. But I would like to get BOSS working again so I can continue to add a few more mods and help me with making sure none of the mods conflict with anything else. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Again, as of right now, the game is totally fine, but I want to keep it that way. BOSS doesn't recognize my mods anymore though and would like to figure out why and try to fix it. Thank you very much!

Same problem here. I'm using BOSS only, and when I try to run BOSS it downloads Skyrim Masterlist for >30 secs, which is odd on its own right, and when this is done it doesn't recognize anything, not even update.esm or dawnguard.esm.

Maybe this is due to some maintenance as was suggested here:

Does anyone have any idea whats going on with BOSS?
