oblivioff
Hi i installed MGE XE to morrowind and followed instructions included with the mod. Problem is i feel my game does not look as good as in mods 'showcase' pictures. Any idea? Here you can see mod sites pictures: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/41102/?tab=imagesAnd my games screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/oaupO I think my general lightning and water and nightsky looks fine though. Thanks!
Jeir
It looks like all you've done is use MGEXE on the vanilla game. As it says in the mod description, it doesn't update graphics/change textures or anything like that; it just increases the viewable distance and improves on some things like shadows. The screenshots of the mod are using all kinds of other mods to update Morrowind's visuals. Try using this mod, but make sure you follow this guide (including what it says in the stickies) as it has info about how to install MGSO and update it/fix its bugs. There is a better support thread here.
AYLeiDRuiN
Those screenshots to me look like that none of the "good" shaders are enabled. Light shafts, HDR, Water Effects... None of them that I can see. Shaders are -> MGE GUI -> TAB="Graphics" -> Shader Setup -> Double click these shaders in "available shaders" and make sure they're in this order:<Active Shaders>SSAO HQUnderwater EffectsSunshaftsUnderwater Interior EffectsBloom SoftAdaptive HDR 3 If your interested, here's my MGE.ini from \Morrowind\mge3 Minus my Mod lIst: [shader Chain]SSAO HQUnderwater EffectsSunshaftsUnderwater Interior EffectsBloom SoftAdaptive HDR 3 [DLWizard Settings]Plugins view sort order=Load orderWorld texture resolution=2048World normalmap resolution=2048Create world texture in two steps=TrueWorld mesh detail=Very HighMinimum static size=180Grass density=30Mesh detail=FullSkip mipmap levels=1Include activators=TrueInclude misc objects=TrueUse static overrides=TrueStatics for behave like exterior cells=OnStatics for interiors with water=On [DLWizard Plugin Dirs] [DLWizard Plugins]Morrowind.esmTribunal.esmBloodmoon.esm [DLWizard Static Overrides]G:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Morrowind\mge3\Distant Lights Override.txtG:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Morrowind\mge3\MGE XE Default Statics Classifiers.ovr [Distant Land Weather]Clear Wind Ratio=0.01Clear Fog Ratio=1Clear Fog Offset=0Cloudy Wind Ratio=0.06Cloudy Fog Ratio=0.9Cloudy Fog Offset=0Foggy Wind Ratio=0.001Foggy Fog Ratio=0.3Foggy Fog Offset=30Overcast Wind Ratio=0.12Overcast Fog Ratio=0.7Overcast Fog Offset=0Rain Wind Ratio=0.2Rain Fog Ratio=0.5Rain Fog Offset=10Thunderstorm Wind Ratio=0.4Thunderstorm Fog Ratio=0.5Thunderstorm Fog Offset=20Ashstorm Wind Ratio=0.8Ashstorm Fog Ratio=0.2Ashstorm Fog Offset=50Blight Wind Ratio=0.9Blight Fog Ratio=0.2Blight Fog Offset=60Snow Wind Ratio=0.01Snow Fog Ratio=0.5Snow Fog Offset=40Blizzard Wind Ratio=0.8Blizzard Fog Ratio=0.16Blizzard Fog Offset=70 [Main]Version="v0.9.10"Tooltip Reading Speed=15cpsGUI Language="English (default)"Language Autodetection=True [Misc]MGE Disabled=FalseInternal MWSE Disabled=TrueHDR Reaction Time=1.5Customize 3rd Person Camera=FalseInitial 3rd Person Camera X=0Initial 3rd Person Camera Y=-160Initial 3rd Person Camera Z=0Crosshair Autohide=TrueUse Menu Background Caching=True [Global Graphics]Antialiasing Level=2xVWait=1Refresh Rate=DefaultBorderless Window=True [Render State]Anisotropic Filtering Level=8xMipmap LOD Bias=-0.5Fog Mode=Depth pixelHorizontal Screen FOV=91.31MGE FPS Counter=OffMGE Messages=OnMGE Messages Timeout=2000Hardware Shader=OnUI Scaling=1.8Screenshot Format=JPEGScreenshot Output Directory="G:\Games\Screenshots"Screenshot Name Prefix="Morrowind" [Distant Land]Distant Land=OnDistant Statics=OnDraw Distance=10Auto Distances=TrueAuto Distances Choice=By Draw DistanceNear Statics End=3Far Statics End=7Very Far Statics End=9Far Static Min Size=800Very Far Static Min Size=1000Water Reflects Land=TrueWater Reflects Near Statics=TrueWater Reflects Interiors=FalseEnable Sky Reflections=TrueBlur Water Reflections=OffDynamic Ripples=TrueWater Wave Height=50Water Caustics Intensity=50Above Water Fog Start=1.5Above Water Fog End=10Below Water Fog Start=-0.5Below Water Fog End=0.3Interior Fog Start=0Interior Fog End=2Use Exponential Fog=YesExponential Distance Multiplier=4Use Atmosphere Scattering=YesSun Shadows=OnPer Pixel Shader=OffI'm using MGE XE Version 0.9.10 Good Luck  Edited March 16, 2018 by AYLeiDRuiN
oblivioff
I have all same shaders enabled as you, just bloom is fine instead soft. Does it really matter What order shaders are on the list. And finally is MGSO worth installing? Heard there are some game breaking bugs. Thanks for answers! AYLeiDRuiN
Darn :/ Sorry m8. Yea, order matters. Or at least thats what I've read. That was my idea. As for the overhauls, I stay away from the the big overhaul packs bc most mods aren't compatible. I follow the STEP:Morrowind for a base then add all the popular mods and tools from abot's site :D I found that multipatch is the only one you need, but that's off topic. In MGE/XE GUI there is a thing called "Macro Editor" under "In Game" tab. In there bottom left is a drop down menu which u choose what you want these keys to do. I use the NUMPad keys and top 3...scroll lock/print scrn...etc. Map some keys so when you press say "9" it enables shaders. I have a few mapped including zoom, toggle distant land, next soundtrack new lighting effect enabled... etc. Maybe enabling shaders by a keymap will do the trick for yea  Just be sure to "save" your custom keymaps  Edited March 16, 2018 by AYLeiDRuiN

AYLeiDRuiN
If you want the latest Code Patch go to the Skunk Works page. Tho Don't get the MGE/XE there.Stick with 0.9.10 IMO. https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/26348/As for that patch for MSGO... Try it out. Looks like it'll fix all the little bugs that come with the overhauls... but again, I have No Experience with it. Most, including me, zip up our Vanilla Install and put it back somewhere in case something goes wrong. If it does... Delete and Unzip the backup back into the install folder and try another solution :)
Jeir
And finally is MGSO worth installing? Heard there are some game breaking bugs.I have it on my current install of Morrowind, following the guide I linked, and it works perfectly fine. I used to have individual mod downloads I'd install and organise myself, but when I looked at the MGSO mod list, I saw it had pretty much everything I used, and more, so decided to go with it. I then installed other mods on top to personalise it a bit more to my taste. So, yes, if you follow the guide, it's worth installing. Certainly a lot faster/easier than trying to compile your own list, or going through the rather long-winded STEP process.

Heres what it looks like now :https://imgur.com/a/ivKAz I feel like morrowind terrain is bit empty. Do you have any mod to recommend that would add grass to ground?
