kmb
Hi, guys! I've been playing F3 since 2008, now I'm trying to play it once again with new feel. So, I've been installing mods for FNV a year ago, but never tried to do the thing I'm trying to do now. I've got new weapon model, that has it's own mesh and textures, including individual structure of these files. Now I'm trying to replace chineese assault rifle with this one, renaming mesh file correctly and putting it into data folder. Also, I put textures into folder, where mesh file seeks for them. And now, what the hell I see? Mesh works, BUT: Original textures are used (original chineese), so it's a coplete mess (I just don't get the idea, how F3 applied them on totaly different model with no connection to them), BUT ONLY FOR PLAYER GUN!!! Other words, it's OK with NPC's GUNS, BUT MESS WITH PLAYER ONES! I've downloaded replacement mod for chineese assault rifle, get those textures, and they were applied to my mesh (complete mess again - my textures structure is totally different from stock one, even in case of number of the files)! So, there's no trouble with archive invalidation! Does anybody knows, what the hell it is? And how it comes to be ok with NPC GUNS and messing with only mine? Thanks in advance,Now I'll go trying for something else...
micalov
Most weapons use a first person static with high quality textures added via a texture set (the game telling it to paint another texture over it) so they look good up close but you do not waste resources with high res textures at distance etc. You either need to disable the 1stperson mesh and set it to NONE in geck or change/create a the first person static. nosisab
The mesh file has an entry pointing to the textures, since you are changing the names and path you need to fix it inside the mesh, Nifscope can be used to do it.
kmb
micalov, thank you very much, but it doesn't work(nosisab, I don't change the path of the textures, I just change the name of the mesh - if it stays the same, the game has no effects on it- The weird thing, disturbing my brain, is the one, that this gun, equipped by NPC, looks right, but when I equip it - even when it's over my back and I see it through 3rd person view - it has all those stock textures. Say, just like chineese rifle textures are put on over existing ones, BUT: when it works stock (as additional object) - everything's fine. What's the big idea? I switched in GECK 1st person object to NONE, but nothing changes! If I rename mesh and it looses path to textures, then there will be no textures even with NPCs. kmb
DAMN! I've just changed the name of the gun, using GECK, changes are saved to plugin, then I start it with FOMM, and later - official launcher, the name's not changed! THAT MEANS: for some reason, the plugin simply doesn't plug in! What the heck? I've been performing this stuff many times before, more of that - plugins I am turning on, f.e. additional objects, are working! Can that be a GECK problem? What the hell... micalov, looks like your solution is right, but I can't turn these changes on!
kmb
Holy Moly! I'm using New Vegas Geck! Thought it would work with FO3! But it seems it doesn't! Just found my ol' one, I was using 3 years ago, on the previous notebook!
micalov
See the pic on how to disable it and make sure your ESP is loaded after any ESP changing the same weapon. http://i.imgur.com/17z7u.jpg
kmb
Sure, micalov, I've been performing exactly this action. Problem is that plugs from NV GECK don't work with FO3 - I've just checked it via simple name changing! Now, we'll see, how it works with nornal GECK! Everything's gonna be fine, I guess! The next step will be extraction SMMG from Lonesome Road and porting it into FO3 instead of Minigun!
kmb
Yep, it was wrong GECK! Now plugin works and everything's fine! micalov, nosisab, thank you very much, guys! :-)
