Flopsies
Ive been looking recently, and the amount of mods being created for games that aren't skyrim is getting lower and lower. The Fallout 3 Nexus had a blank spot in the hot files, with maybe a file uploaded overnight, while Skyrim will have maybe 12 or so. Has anyone noticed this? I am not criticizing the modders, or Dark0ne and the admins, I am just opening this up for discussion.
Thandal
Time since a game's release is inversely proportional to number of NEW mods created for it.Happens very game. :armscrossed:
Lanceor
Good mods take experience and time to make. With Skyrim and the CK newly released, very few people can be considered experienced (and if they are, it's because they were extensively modding other Bethesda games before Skyrim came out). As for time, good mods take months or years to make... even the experienced modders haven't had the time to make something that can compare to the great Oblivion/Fallout mods. But what happens with every new game is that some of the people making small mods right now will go on to create some amazing content a year or two down the track. :)
Entw1ne
Also, take into account the fact that a lot of the people who were playing Fallout 3, Fallout: NV, Oblivion, etc. switched to Skyrim when it released. Sure, some users may go back to the other games, but it'll never have the amount of activity it had even a week before Skyrim came out.
rgdelta
As most say the other ones will decline when a new Beth game comes out (exceptions are fallout 3/NV fans that don't like Elder Scrolls and vica versa) when Beth finally announces Fallout 4 and when it comes out you will see skyrim decline (that probebly won't be for a few years though) Fallout 3 mods declined big time when Beth/Obsidian Released Fallout New Vegas then it dropped big time about a year later there are still some modders that support the last couple of games (in this case Skyrim/NV) but the NV won't be as big as skyrim mods from now till the next game (just like FO3/NV and Oblivion/FO3 before) basically once the official content stops and new game comes out it always happens. DrakeTheDragon
Why is it these days everybody so quickly jumps on the End Of Days bandwagon over what is only a temporary development in group dynamics? Everybody and their mother is playing Skyrim right now, because it's new, it's cool, it has to be played, you can't talk with the others, if you haven't.So everybody and their mother is using Skyrim mods, almost exclusively, for now. Once the novelty and the urge to have it played wears off, they're through the main quests and side quests several times and have seen everything the game has to offer and it's no longer "the" game to be played, things will return back to normal numbers and people to the games they "like" instead of just what's "new". Of course, compared to the user base of Oblivion the user base of Skyrim is far greater, due to all the media hype and the prominent history of the series, thus of course also the number of modders will be higher than Oblivion's or any other game's so far. But how many will actually "stick" with Skyrim once the novelty wore off I'm not going to speculate here, only time will tell. Just look at the Morrowind modding community, which is still thriving... not as much as when Morrowind was a novelty, just as Oblivion's won't be thriving as much anymore as when Oblivion was the novelty... but still thriving, as will all the others be once things return to normal.Oh, and just in case anybody didn't know, yet... once TES VI comes out, exactly the same will be the case for Skyrim modding, for a while, until the novelty wears off, you know the drill by now... just telling. There will always be modders true to one game, their game, and there will always be users prefering one game over the others. Just look at the countless, pointless, if you ask me, discussions starting with "which one was better?" these days and ages back in the forum archives just about everywhere, if you don't believe me. LadyMilla
I'm still finding new and exciting mods for Morrowind. I have just revamped my game with hi-res textures and models.

It's normal, Skyrim is a new game and it's perfectly normal that it has more trafic than the rest. And since it attracts both those who mod TES and Fallout games, Fallout 3 and NV Nexus' are a bit more empty than they used to be, but not too much. And FO3 Nexus doesn't have much of a drop, at least when it comes to uploaded files. There wasn't much traffic before Skyrim either, only crazy guys like me that can't stop making stuff for it and those who make god weapons.
