ToniPrufrock
I don't use shields at all (which is in part why I use restoration. i've never been able to block well. lol)I'd be inclined to disagree on some points, but I do see where you're coming from with focusing perks more narrowly. I think on my next character i'll bear that very much in mind. Currently the ones I use are Sneak (now 100), Archery (high level perks), lockpicking, One handed (medium level perks), Light armour,(medium level perks) Restoration (low level perks though) and Conjuration (also low level perks) and Destruction (low level perks). While I very much focus on sneaking and stealth-archery, I found that with the way I fight I needed the other perks. Before I got my sanguine rose and was in lower levels I relied heavily on summon flame atronach to provide the extra firepower that i lacked from not having a follower (because the stupid AI ruined every attempt I made to have a follower while using sneak attacks). It covered me with long-range magic and provided a useful distraction for big enemies, which was esecially handy with dragons or groups. But with that I kept the perks low even if the level grew higher. The same was for destruction, which was handy for dealing with elementally weak monsters before I could afford to buy numerous enchanted bows. Once i got the dual casting perk I stopped buying them though. Now as for Restoration, I wouldn't say it's useless. Chugging potions is all very well, but they deplete quickly, as does food, which buggers you over when you're in a long dungeon or the like. Restoration allows quick and easy healing for 'free', as well as the ability to heal party members, which I always find useful. I use it all the time when I'm meleeing.the problem with having a theif/light armour character is that you need good melee perks in order to survive since you need to do as much damage as you can as fast as possible, and you need the most defense it's possible to get since the hits hit so much harder on rather delicate thieves when you are forced to scrap with your enemies. hence the perks.but it is expensive, and probably down to the inexperience of the style I play and fight i suppose. Now I'm higher level and I'm more confident in my ability at archery and sneaking, i hardly ever need the other skills as much. But I needed them to get to this point. Aaaanyway. I'm babbling. In short, I finally got around to redoing Skuldafen - at night time as recommended - and relying completely on my stealth and archery and a buttload of arrows. And it was glorious. Admittedly it took about 3 in-game days to do, since I kept waiting for nighttime. But it was easy once, like you say, you rely on your own confidence as a sneak-attacker and you rely on your terrain and have patience. It was incredibly satisfying. And Aldiun was easy-peasy once you realise that instead of trying to shoot him full of arrows and getting set on fire in the process, it's better to just force him to land and stab him in the arse with your dragonbane until he dies. Brandy1123
Well done  Its always better to see the back of their head slam forward from your attack then to be blinded by a firey face blast. Alduin is a push over for a world eater, even on master level, with harder dragons and double dragon life on top of all that. He should summon a hoard of all the various elemental type dragons, some dragon-friendly type minions, cast a few spells, summon a few daedric warriors and really give you a run for your septims.
