Quick Question, issue with Console Commands FO3

Finally got my new computer and installed FO3 on the new system and it actually runs and runs amazing. Graphics are boss with the 6 gig GTX1060 OC. Excited about that. Issue though. When I was able to

play before on my old rig I had the same version of FO3 (goty Steam Edition) and I could use the console such as (player.additem 1234abc57 1) and the item or what ever would appear in my inventory. Now

playing I can still access the console with the tilde key and some of the commands work (Unlock,TGM,TFC,.inv, setav carry weight,etc...) .additem does work, sorta, for caps (additem 0000000f) it seems to work

but most other things like ammo it will add to my inventory on the PipBoy but wont let me use it. I added 5000 rounds of 5.56mm into my inventory and it separated it from the "legit" ammo I had found in game

from the spawned ammo so I had two 5.56mm rows one with 26 rounds that I could access and load into my gun and 5000 rounds that I was locked out of. I even tried dropping it and picking it up. I could drop it

but it would not even let me pick it up!!! Is this an anti-cheating thing? That would be weird as it is a single player exclusive so the only one to cheat is myself. I thought it may be tied to difficulty like in FO4 when

they disable the console in Survival Mode but nope dropped it down to normal and tried same. ??? I want to cheat because I want a quick play-through as a refresher of the Fallout story and to experience the

game on Ultra setting for the first time but really want to get back to FO4 and put my new system to the test. Ill include Mod load order if anyone knows if any of the Mods I'm using might cause this. Thanks

what I would try is to drop the 26 rounds of usable ammo you have on the ground , open the console and click on the ammo

this should give you the item ID for the ammo . if it starts with ff , it won't provide you with any information

if it starts with anything other than 00 , that means you have a plugin that changes the ammo

the only one that might do so is the last plugin , but reading some comments on it I couldn't find any evidence to suggest this is the case

if it is indeed a plugin that adds a new version of that ammo , you can find the ID via FO3Edit for example , and just add the ammo via the correct ID

what I would also try is to add one of the vanilla 5.56 weapons via console command , and seeing which version of the ammo they load

or you could try adding a gun and ammo on a vanilla game (with no mods activated) to see if this is caused by one of the mods you use (which I believe is the case , unless the game has an unused version of the 5.56 ammo , and I couldn't find any evidence to suggest this is the case either)

Just a thought - are you sure you used the right ID? There are different types of the same ammo - Ammo556mm and Ammo556mmRobot. Don't know what would happen if you gave yourself 5000 of the latter. Normally, 1 of the Robot version would give you unlimited ammo. <- complete garbage!

EDIT: It's not playable. If you give yourself something you shouldn't have and drop it, you certainly won't be able to pick it up again.

If it's not that, the only mod I can see that may be causing this behaviour is ColtM4Carbines. Try unchecking it and seeing if you can use the console properly afterwards. That's all that springs to mind.

Streetlights-Wasteland is redundant as it is part of StreetLights, disable and uninstall it.

The DLC plugins for Fellout are unnecessary since you are using Fellout-Full, disable and uninstall them.

DarnUI should be the first .esp in the load order.

If you have the game installed to the default location, move it to somewhere outside of Program Files. There are instructions on Steam on how to do this.

DarnUI requires FOSE, Windows User Account Control will prevent FOSE from being completely installed if the game is in the Program Files folder.

Ill try the troubleshooting ans see if that works. Thanks friends. Also, thank you for the load order tips. Still fairly new to Modding games on PC life long console gamer who is new convert to PC gaming. Yea, I remember hearing LOOT is not the best for sorting FO3 Mods. Thanks again.

Okay so uninstalled the Carbine mod and its working though I think I may have just got a bad list of item reference codes. I had found a list on a fan sight and those were the codes that gave me the bricked ammo. I tried the codes I found on Fallout WiKi and those all worked. When I dropped "legit" ammo and then clicked it with console open the ref code I got never worked, I always got a return "Unable to locate ref ID" or some such. Also, apparently the "Help 5.56 0" command does not work in FO3 like it does in 4 and "Player.inv" works but you can't scroll through the command log like in FO4 kinda a bummer. Cheaters never prosper at least not in Fallout 3. Thanks for the replies and the advise.

One thing you have to watch when trying to get ref. id. on a dropped item. The name of the item will show at the top of the screen. If you get an id number without the name, you were close but not on the item.

Sometimes you cannot get the correct number due to the angle of view. I discovered that when trying to use the showinventory command with Nova. I had to change the view angle to get her number and not the wall behind her.
