David Brasher
Making a model is harder. You have to learn Blender for that. To make a texture, all you have to learn is a program like GIMP. Many people probably know how to use several programs like that already. Edited April 22, 2012 by David Brasher
kingchris20
Modeling is muuuuuch harder IMO. UV mapping and painting is fairly simple, but molding a 3d object into something useable, it's just way beyond me. Been trying on Blender and 3Ds Max, most I've been able to do is simply edit a mesh (in a very small way)....maybe if I keep at it it'll come to me haha
ghosu
For ME it is MUCH harder to make a GOOD texture...i mostly create weapon models, each takes me 5-30min, more complicated ones up to 60min - a GOOD texture takes me much longer. hero4682
awesome,... it took me months to make a sword (the way i liked it).... armor took even longer,... but the textures! man, where they awefull
kuinngu
Modeling is harder because there are chances of more errors and what not. But texturing is more important in my opinion. A good texture can make a very simple model look amazing, but a bad texture can also make a good model look horrible.
Galacticat42
For me, modeling is easier only because I've been around it much longer. Sure I can make a texture faster than I can a model, but there's a LOT more tension trying to match everything so that the texture compliments the model. ResolveThatChord
I would say that education, tutorials, and support for moddelling is far more abundant. Importing textures to Skyrim is far easier, but finding info on how to be a good texturer is much harder.
jet4571
Making a good texture is harder. the hardest part for modeling is doing the uvw mapping to make it look good in a game. but once you learn that it isn't really all that hard to just run through the motions to get the uvw map ready for texturing.
