Halororor
Investing in a shop means the shop owner can pay you 500 gold more for something, like example the shop owner only has 800 gold and the sword you are trying to sell is worth 2000, now you invest 500 gold(that's the default max), and now he can buy it for 1300 gold. I know it's pointless because you just basically gave away the 500 gold you got extra, but the bonus that he can pay you stays for the rest of the game. The problem is you need be high level at the skill to be able investing. Once you are, you can invest in the shop and immediately after sell him the whole batch and "profit" 500 golds after the first item sold, to each item. Since without mods the player isn't supposed having high priced items at low levels, the system makes sense. Edit: the idea was avoiding the player becoming "rich" very fast and valor the high priced magical Items, turning then hard to afford. Sadly most mods turned Oblivion boring to play; killed the challenge and the lore.

Michlo
Sadly most mods turned Oblivion boring to play; killed the challenge and the lore. I must disagree there, mate. If you want to go by lore, how can these so-called merchants have so little coin in the capital of the entire empire? It makes no sense at all, lore or otherwise. That is why mods such as "More Merchant Money" make so much sense. It isn't breaking anything by giving the merchants a more realistic amount of coin. With the amounts the vanilla game gives them, they wouldn't even be able to afford the rent there! :) Cheers. :whistling:
giskarduk
Tip do not train up your merchant skill to 100, it ruins the game. You might as well have a money cheat you get so rich so fast. Same with the sneak skill, stop at about 75. Btw its the fact you get too much money and cannot spend it fast enough that is the reason why beth give the merchants so little. Try and merchant character with 100 master skill and you will see it kill your game faster than any cheat can. Giskard

Giskard Hey Giskard, I guess it all depends on how you play, I got three women companions and though I'm a multi-million-septim-aire, those girls spend my money on clothes, weapons and armor, and houses, as fast as I can make it, it seems. Now I know what it's like to be a guy!! haha Love your mods.

Its a kind of catch 22. When you reach the point where you can invest you generally have more gold than you ever need so investing doesn't make to much sense. When I start a new character I use a cheat code and just give him 10K gold. Then you pick up the small items to sell because it the number of sales not the amount. Example you have 50 arrows and you sell them one at a time takes forever. My favorite item to pickup is lockpicks. After you do Nocternal's quest at level 10 and get the skeleton Key you sell lockpicks. the thing is that they weigh nothing and depending on who you sell to you can get 2 gold each. It is a waste of time to pickup the expensive heavy armor & weapons to sell because you do not get much for them. Some collect swords, armor what have you but I take stuff that is worth about 2-3K for resale to a merchant. Madgamer
