Well there is some very nice, but old. dead or missing mods. Like Ares, lings, Shiloh DS etc. Some are nice idea, but not work and now dead - like auto reload bench. Isn't there any way to be revived, or upgraded?

Yes, they can. But only by the original authors or with the original author's permission.

I do understand, BUT - looks like no1 can get permission or even contact with them? There must be some time limit about that. 2 years? 5 years? Really most of this mods have nothing even close to them.

I am really not a expert when it comes to copyright, so I would suggest you contact one of the moderation team. From what I understand, for anything created after 1978, the copyright is good for the author's lifespan plus 70 years.

Hmmm, then why no1 make something similar? Or to upgrade version or something? I do like NVEC but it's old now - as there update at some of it's content + new that cannot be installed with it. As for install most of content....... and do some sort of merge esp or whatever u named - not a job for me.

It totally depends upon the original mod permissions. Unfortunately many mod authors don't remember to open those up when they abandon or "finish" a mod. Then you are stuck with what they left (as frustrating as that might be). "Updates" and "merges" are called "derivative works" and still require the permissions of the original mod author (unless they are strictly for your personal use). Some allow "bug fixes" while others don't allow any changes.

You can always create your own "expression" of the mod, but without using the original's code or assets. Ideas cannot be copyrighted, only the specific implementation of those ideas.

If you aren't willing or able to do the work yourself, then look for alternatives. As for NVEC, have you seen "NVEC Mod Expansion"
