ThoseTolerableNoobs
The hot files system is pretty fair, only files with the highest number of endorsements get to the hot files. They are there because more people like those files than dungeons/spells/quests. And from what I've seen, out of 100 dungeons/spell/quest mods only a few are made well enough to be actually used, the rest of them only give you god weapons or spells after you kill a couple of skeletons so I usually skip mods with "dungeon" and "quest" in the file name. We don't mind that, it's the mods they are endorsing that is the problem...

And THIS, mr. and mrs. is what makes me throw out and shut down the CK, losing 100+ hours of work for never getting ppl to actually feel a world instead of a bikini! Thanks everyone, thanks! :D
Werne
So you spend your whole playtime in skyrim trying to make your char/game look better? whats the point?Well, I'm going to look at my character the entire time I play the game, so he can at least look good. We don't mind that, it's the mods they are endorsing that is the problem...Then I suggest you keep your opinion for yourself, I honestly don't like people that have to yap if things are not the way they want them to be and judging by your previous post, you're that kind of guy. And THIS, mr. and mrs. is what makes me throw out and shut down the CK, losing 100+ hours of work for never getting ppl to actually feel a world instead of a bikini! Thanks everyone, thanks! :DSo, you make mods only to get to the hot files? I had several mods being in the hot files section and trust me, I can't understand what the fuss is all about. All you get is a lot of comments to read, a whole bunch of trolls to report and a lot of people yapping about how you should change this to look like that. It's more trouble than it's worth. Brandy1123
I don't mod or even make believe i can. My system can pretty much handle what most modders can throw at it. I am not a big fan of unrealistic physics (ragdolls) and i wish i knew how to fix tears and seams in the Skyrim landscape when I see it. My talent lies in writing and theres no much need for it here. I do enjoy a really well put together mod. It doesn't have to be long or take up a vast tunnel system. But one where the things you see and find are or seem natural to where it is. finding armor or weapon or a box of "killer" items is not why I continue to play this game. I am real hesitant o download another ENB/Uber Landscape/luscious lighting/Wowzers Waterways or anything else the has piled up in the past few days. there are dedicated teams like you fine people who keep us in awe with your works. there are individuals who put out masterpieces keepin the game in balance, taking into consideration what the item is and how it affects or reacts to or on the players. Saying this is "lore Friendly" , "Realistic" , "Balanced" , or anything similar is just mumbo jargon. Its too bad there are not 3 or 4 main catagories of Mods, then sub catagories uner them like the ones you listed. I want better lighting, realistic flora and fauna. I want reflective rippled waterways with hi-rez skyline relfected. I want mist particles that make me want to wipe my monitor. I would love to see a sweat bead trickle down a gaurds face after a dragon attack or scortched leather and iron tarnished from heat. See lingering wounds and weapons that need repair. These mods I think are at the heart of most players of games like these. I am not so nieve to not know that most of these are controlled by the engine and ultimately the hard coded came limitations. But these are the things peope like you have gratiously overcome and delivered to us. I would offer my skills to whatever is needed, but like some, I have been criticized for my style of writing and hence stopped doing it.

You misunderstood the sarcasm :) I mod because I want that thing to be played by me mainly, that's why Im doing my best : for myself.
porroone
Well if it follows this path, I dont see much future. Its kind of sad that you put a lot of work on creating a dungeon or new landscape, or scripting, or even creating new animations, to see they may only last a day on the top list, when 5 month's old texture mods are still on top. It doesnt make much sense to me.
flobalob
I think it would be really cool if there were several categories of top files featured on the home page of Skyrim Nexus. So instead of having five pictures of female swimsuits for combat, there would be pictures from several categories. Some possible categories: (1) Apparel (2) Weapons(3) Tweaks, Gameplay Effects and Changes, UI, Misc.(4) Followers, Houses(5) Dungeons, Quests, and Adventures So if a system like this was used, instead of five pictures of swimsuits for combat, you might end up with one picture of a woman in a swimsuit for combat, a sword, a menu change, a follower, and a dungeon entrance. In effect this is available, under the Files/Categorys Sort by endorsements(Descending) which is, I believe, the default.

Ironman5000
Well I think the hot list on the main nexus page is bulls*** and completly useless, I always see the same kind of mods, either ENB, Armor/weapon mods or some anime bulls***, I mean its ok to have those things, they kind of enrich the game, but cmon having them on top list ? when there are dungeons, spells, quest's mods that you actually enjoy playing beyond making your character look better. I think those mods should go on top page, or at least some advertising of them, it might get some motivation for modders, so we can actually enjoy some actually extra playtime instead of spending the whole day fapping with one of the CBBE mods.. Well there I drop the bomb, may the community judge me haha I do agree with you there, enb setting are so easy to change and to get the attention they do just shows the amount of noobs who can't be bothered playing with the ini settings themselves  therefore overshadows a lot talent and effort put into mods that at first glance may not be so obvious because the author hasn't done nice enough shiny little pictures or showing a nice bit of cleavage  The best bet is to do what I do and just take the time every few days to scan through latest files and go through them one by one to see which ones do reasonably well and download, then make your own judgement. It's time consuming but if you don't I bet you miss out some gems which the hot files miss. Edited April 26, 2012 by Ironman5000
