Gamebreaking Bug

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a very weird bug at the Manhole door to the Utility Metro. Whenever I go down the manhole, I am spawned at the foot of the ladder inside some stray car. The car is clearly not supposed to be there and is constantly "colliding" with the ladder and the other random objects spawned around it making an annoying loud clinking sound until I go back up the ladder or turn on noclip in the console.

I can't move; noclip only remedies the sound and doesn't free me from the trap.

Any ideas? Maybe there's a console command that will "reset" a particular room?

Thanks in advance.

disable some of the colliding things

I am guessing you cant fast travel so

disable things and then try to leave the room but if that still isn't helping

then try to kill yourself

(if you don't know)

"~"

click your self

then type...kill

you should be able to re-spawn at the nearest door

if non this helps or if you tried this then sorry that is a game breaking bug

also

"~"

click on any conflicting object you think is restricting you

they type...disable

if you don't know what it does it basically removes it from the game TEMPORALLY

then try tcl hopefully it works after words

When I tried disabling things, I was shocked--I was standing in an incredible pile of over 100 seemingly-random objects, including traffic cones, shot glasses, scrap metals, and a ton of tin cans.

1 carpal tunnel later and still no dice. I was stuck. I even disabled the floor beneath me, to no avail. I tried killing myself, entering the room again, nothing worked.

Unfortunately, this is a vital quest area and this is the only entrance into the Utility Metro. I'd really hate to lose this save.

Is there anything else I can do? I'm very appreciative of your help, by the way.

Maybe you know if there's an ingame tool for Fallout 3 like "refscope" for Oblivion which I used extensively. You can click on any npc or object and get all infos on it and in particular

whether it's defined in the original Fallout esm or in an addon. The objects obstructing you might belong to another mod which you could then repair with the load order or even disabling it.

I once looked around for something like refscope for Fallout but found nothing. Perhaps someone reading this knows.

Disable the unofficial Broken Steel patch. There's a fixed version of it floating around somewhere that resolves that issue but I don't have the link at the moment.

This worked great! Thanks so much.

If you do come across that link, please let me know.

Hello there, I'm new to the forums, but an old-time player :) I recently started playing FO3 again and I got a very similar gamebreaker: during the Waters of Life quest, when entering the Taft Tunnels after Dr. Li, I get spawned inside ALL of the quest npcs that follow you through the tunnel as well as a whole pile of stuff and a couple feral ghouls. I got pretty frustrated so when I started disabling the characters and the ghouls I found the pile of stuff, but it's impossible to move even after removing all of it.

I tried disabling the unofficial Broken Steel patch (even disabled the expansion itself) but it's still happening. I tried reloading a bit back before the Enclave hits, and it messed up yet again. Do you have any idea of what might be causing this? Please help!

Thanks in advance. :)

Well, I tried removing the Unofficial patch and not only disabling it, and when I try entering the Taft Tunnels with these new settings the game just crashes to desktop. That probably means I have the same problem as Overslept... right? I don't really know how to interpret it. Is there something else I can try to fix this? Thanks, and sorry!

Update: I was able to find a fix for this issue! Effectively, the unofficial BS patch was messing things up. If you want to keep it so as to not disable it, use the fix found in this thread: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/401813-unofficial-fallout-3-patch-broken-steelesp-rivet-city-area-ctd-fix/

My game worked perfectly after following his instructions. :)

Cheers!
