zuckerjr
Gentlemen (and Ladies): I recently performed a clean install of Skyrim. (i.e., all folders and files removed, including all old saved games, ini files, and mods.) I selected a fairly lengthy list of mods I wanted, downloaded them, and began the process of making Skyrim work. After spending hours removing mods, replacing mods, tweaking ini files, etc, I got a configuration that would stably launch Skyrim, load all the textures properly, etc. Everything appeared to be working appropriately. Then I ran into a strange (script?) issue early in the game. In Helgen, I followed Ralof into the keep, and we have to escape, etc. Well, we jumped the imperials and took their key, opened the door, and Ralof walks into the hallway and says "Great, this way!" or some such. He then stays there, and never proceeds down the hall. I can't seem to trigger him to get his ass in gear. I do have mods that I feel like could/do alter npc behaviour, but I removed the most likely culprit (a follower mod) with no results. Here is my current list of active mods, in the load order specified by BOSS (it altered my load order slightly, but still having the same issue): Skyrim.esm Active Update.esm Active moonpath.esm Active HighResTexturePack01.esp Active HighResTexturePack02.esp Active Shadow Striping Fix.esp Active Realistic Lighting.esp Active Realistic Lighting Patcher.esp Active Warmer Magic Lights v2 - Big.esp Active Weapons and Armor fixes.esp Active Weapons and Armor fixes - Hacks.esp Active craftablelockpicks.esp Active Crimson Tide - Blood.esp Active JewelCraft.esp Active KillThemGenerals.esp Active Lanterns Of Skyrim - Around Cities.esp Active Lanterns Of Skyrim - Bridges x2 - OnOff.esp Active Lost Art of the Blacksmith.esp Active People Have Torches.esp Active Portable Campsite Lite.esp Active SkyrimsUniqueTreasures.esp Active BarenziahQuestMarkers.esp Active 1nivWICCloaks.esp Active 1nivWICCloaksCRAFT.esp Active EinherjarArmor.esp Active WarchiefArmor.esp Active BreezehomeRenovation.esp Active EMHighviewCottage.esp Active moonpath_questdata.esp Active Pinewoods Cottage.esp Active Proudspire.esp Active Quest_AndTheRealmsOfDaedra.esp Quest_NoMercy.esp The Asteria - Dwemer Airship.esp Active Whiterun Ferns.esp Active AmazingFollowerTweaks.esp Active Headbomb's Better Sorting - Books.esp Active Headbomb's Better Sorting - Ingredients.esp Active Headbomb's Better Sorting - Soul Gems (Ranked).esp Active Headbomb's Better Sorting - Potions (Normal Weight).esp Active Headbomb's Better Sorting - Miscellaneous.esp Active Headbomb's Better Sorting - Ammo.esp Active Headbomb's Better Sorting - Spells.esp Active Headbomb's Better Sorting - Food (Normal Weight).esp Active FasterArrows50.esp FasterArrows100.esp FasterArrows75.esp FasterArrows.esp Active No Helmets Required.esp Active quest_seaofghosts.esp WATER.esp Active WATER - Get Wet.esp Active RichMerchants.esp Active Bash Tag suggestion(s): {{BASH: Relev}} VariedGuards.esp Active TRO_BasicNeeds.esp Active TRO_BasicNeeds_WATERPatch.esp Active SpellSneak.esp Active AlchemyOrganization.esp Active Smithing Perks Overhaul - Balanced.esp Active Quest_TheBiggerTheyAre.esp moveitLWT.esp Active Note: Use only one moveit esp Height Adjusted Races.esp Active −Unrecognised Plugins Reorder these by hand using your favourite mod ordering utility. theFlicker.esp Active longercandlelight2min.esp Active Western Watchtower Rebuilt.esp Active sanctuarycleanup.esp Active Any ideas/thoughts on what could be the culprit? Werne
You know what's the worse? Completely irrelevant mods can trigger that behaviour, for me it were the official HD textures. Two esp's that change absolutely nothing messed up my game. After I fixed that I had the same problem with Realistic lighting. After I fixed that too, Eternal Torches made the same problem. Basically, each one of these mods you have, no matter how big or small it is, can be the cause of your problem.
zuckerjr
Damn. Welp, I guess it's back to the drawing board then. At least I have a saved game I can use to test now. I'm sure if I removed all my mods, the problem would be solved (most likely), but obviously that would kind of defeat the purpose. Hopefully I'll get lucky and remove the mod that's causing the trouble before I've taken away too many.
