audiodef Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 I would like to create a mod of my own. While I have experience with installing long lists of mods, I am a total n00b at creating mods. Can anyone get me started with a tutorial somewhere? I ask only for one thing: no videos. I simply do not learn from videos. I am extremely text-oriented. My search for an FO4 mod tutorial has yielded nothing useful to me, so I am hoping for a little help here. I apologize if this has been asked and answered. I did take a look around first.

audiodef Posted May 3, 2018 Author Posted May 3, 2018 That second link is an awesome reference list. Thank you. :)
Tentacus Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 (edited) Just a little bit of advice. Don't be afraid of scripting. It's not really that hard if you have the ability to think about cause and effect, but it is very daunting at first if you have no other coding experience, but with the right tutorials it's not that hard. Learn about KmyQuest and how to reuse a single script fragment early. Make small low stakes experimental mods first just to learn the basics. Keep your scope very limited and you will actually get to make a complex mod faster than if you just try to make your dream mod from the start (trust me) Edited May 3, 2018 by Tentacus
audiodef Posted May 4, 2018 Author Posted May 4, 2018 Thanks, man, appreciate the advice. Not new to coding, so I should be okay if I need scripts. :)
Yulliah Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Also, open up some mods in CK of mod authors who tagg their altered files (I tag everything with YM_, Elianora does it with Eli_) And then just look at how things link to one another... I learned that way... But then I'm not text oriënted at all... I'm more of a trial and error person!
