noae86
anyone else like to watch game of thrones while playing skyrim? the similar lore and styles make it so much more fun, even the names of some of the holds are similar, what other movies, tv shows, are there that have similar lore i could watch while i play? lord of the rings, 13th warrior, GOT is all i can think of,
ProjectVRD
When you watch GOF you can tell Bethesda took a lot of inspiration from the story when making Skyrim, like you say, the name of the Holds are simular to those in Game of Thrones. I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing.
nisen
man awsome show and good comparison. i allways figured GOT was some dry old medieval politics drama
noae86
i introduced GOT to a friend who is not really into that kind of lore/fantasy/medieval stuff, he now loves it, he watched the whole first season in one night. and waits for every show since. i already showed him skyrim and he is now building a rig to handle it with all the mods i have,
moogenflap
Yeah, there are some similar comparisons, its an excellent show. Sometimes I have to record the same episode again before the next as there are so many characters and storylines going on it's easy to forget before the next one. Lots of similarities there. Another one that reminds of Skyrim is Spartacus, it's not really very lore friendly but there's a lot of talk about the Gods,, some similar clothing but one thing that really reminds me the most is the fight scenes.. They've filmed them in a slowed down way that reminds, (bit matrix like) but very much like the killmoves in Skyrim, especially with crimson tide blood and killmoves+ mod. Anyone seen some of those death scenes in the arena when they chop their heads of with 2 crossed swords? Really good series anyway.. RIP to the main man who played Spartacus Andy Whitfield., last year who unfortunately died from cancer, was a brilliant actor and top bloke. Oh and before I might get introuble,, it's mature content 18+.. very brutal, gorey and very filthy.. so i won't post a trailer Edited April 30, 2012 by moogenflap
Georgiegril
Oh, I didn't know that Mr. Whitfield had died, how sad. I hated how much I loved that show, so trashy and yet so entertaining. Just like ancient Rome (or so I read....) Skyrim at times reminds me of both GOT and Spartacus. And, of course LOTR. And Conan the Barbarian. And occasionally, the Adventures of Briscoe County Jr., oddly enough.
