Hello wastelanders!

I would like to ask you some help in which mods should I merge from my load order and how should I do it because I'm an idiot and still didn't understand how to merge them.

Thanks in advance for any reply!

Get Merge Plugins, then watch the video and have a go. Looks and sounds kinda daunting at first, but don't let that get in the way, as, in the end, it's not that complicated.

Best choose mods that don't do too complicated things and are more or less in the same category. Don't merge a mod that changes NPC dialogue with one that adds a ton of weapons. Merge smaller ones that add one item each or that have many items that are in the same category; like posters and paintings and some such.

Merge Plugins basically lets you merge any kind of plug-in with whatever other plug-in, but it will sometimes not work. It's going to be a bit of trial and error at first. Merging and having a look if the game agrees with what you did.

First of all, make a new folder inside the Data folder (called 001_Merged_Plugs or some such) where you can store the original plug-ins once you merged them. In that way, when things don't work, you can simply relocate the individual plugs and it's like nothing ever happened...

Not exactly the same problem Kozen had. You're talking about having updated a mod or mods and now the game won't load. Missing a plug-in isn't a problem in itself, except when that plug-in is needed to make other mods work.

If and when you're having problems with the game after having updated some mods, then revert back to the older mods you used before.

It's also important to consider why you want to merge plugins. Have you reached the plugin limit? If so, see if any of your mods have .esl files, or if any of your plugins can be converted to .esl. If you have not reached the plugin limit, there's no real reason to merge plugins. (As opposed to creating a merged patch, which is different and does not merge whole plugins.)

In addition to Jimmy's advice, look for mods that have multiple plugins. These can often - but not always - be merged. Such mods often provide multiple plugins simply to support user choice and can be safely merged.

Not sure I agree you need to move the original, unmerged plugins to another folder. Just disable them in your mod manager.

Wrye Bash is another tool you can use to merge plugins.

It's just to not having to disable/uninstall the original mods I simply move the plug-ins out of the data folder. The rest of the data gets overwritten by the new data from the merged plug. When uninstalling the merged data again, NMM will automatically fall back on what was installed previously.

It's not a "must" of course, it's just the way I do things and handy to have a quick look at which plug-ins you've already merged.

create blank esp in CK, load mods+blank in fo4edit, deep copy check profit, its not that hard if you know what you are doing and or how to do it

and belief me i'm just a n00b with those things to :ninja:

duh, I doubt the OP uses CK, or any editor. See I can be an a**hole too, but I'm really just a nice guy, and If I had any friends they would say so too.

P.S. If the OP would like to learn to merge .esp files then Elianora has a great vid here
